Michigan Golf Hall Of Fame Seeking New Home

January 9, 2013

DETROIT – The Michigan Golf Hall of Fame’s heralded collection of plaques, portraits and memorabilia commemorating 98 members recently vacated its most recent home in Troy, and is seeking a new site to benefit the greater golf community.

A location in any region of Michigan will be considered by the Hall of Fame Board of Directors. Golf facilities, public venues, office complexes and others are welcome to offer a creative and mutually beneficial solution to finding a new space.

The collection, including Horton Smith, the first winner of the Masters Tournament, and tour standouts like Dave Hill, Dan Pohl and Meg Mallon, traces the history of the game in Michigan as well as its most prominent players, benefactors and contributors.

Rick Smith, Gaylord’s internationally celebrated golf course designer and instructor, highly regarded Flint area PGA professionals Larry Mancour and Jack Seltzer, and Grand Rapids amateur legend Jack VanEss made up the latest class named. In May of 2013 another class will join.

Learn more about the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame at its Michigan Golf Foundation Web site: http://michigan-golf-foundation. Ideas and solutions can be presented via the contact tab on the Web site or by contacting Loretta Larkin at the Michigan Golf Foundation at 248-719-0650, 6801 North Meadows Way, Dexter, MI 48130.

The Michigan Golf Foundation is a non-profit corporation (501(c)(3)) since 1996 with a primary focus on preserving the legacy of Michigan golf in the Hall of Fame. All donations to the foundation are fully tax deductible.
