(MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.) – Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday congratulates Dustin Johnson – official spokesman of the Grand Strand’s golf marketing cooperative — on winning the Hyundai Tournament of Champions to open the 2013 PGA TOUR season.
Johnson ended a windy week of Hawaiian golf with a final round 5-under 68 on Kapalua’s dramatic Plantation Course for a four-stroke victory – his seventh career win on the PGA TOUR. The 28-year-old is the only player other than Tiger Woods to win in each of his first six seasons on TOUR after leaving college.
“Dustin is a world-class champion and our partnership promoting Grand Stand golf vacations has been wonderful,” says Bill Golden, president of Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday. “The fact that he lived here and loves the area makes him the ideal spokesman for all we offer as America’s number one golf destination.”
Johnson appears in various marketing materials including print, radio ads, social media and a 30-second television commercial showcasing his talents and affinity for the Myrtle Beach area. He owns a home in Myrtle Beach and is active in the community through his foundation. Johnson graduated from the area’s Coastal Carolina University and sponsors the General Hackler Championship each spring.
