BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The No. 1 composite iron shafts in golf, SteelFiber shafts set a new company record on the PGA TOUR in 2012 and they started 2013 the same way. SteelFiber shafts by Aerotech Golf delivered two Top 10 money positions at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions held this weekend in Kapalua, Hawaii.
SteelFiber shafts provided the power of graphite and the stability of steel throughout a wild weekend that saw heavy rains and 40+ mph wind gusts. The result was a strong third-place and a ninth-place tie to begin the 2013 PGA season for Aerotech Golf. In the final round, the third-place pro went five-under during a four-hole stretch on the front nine to finish with a 69 and move to No. 8 in the Official World Golf Ranking.
“The weather conditions were extremely harsh this weekend at Kapalua, but playing the right high-performance equipment helps to overcome those types of obstacles as well as to maximize a player’s own unique abilities. For example, the composite SteelFiber technology provides greater vibration dampening and reduces player fatigue similar to graphite shafts, while simultaneously giving the greater stability and consistency that is normally associated with steel shafts. This technology is unlike anything else on the Tour today, and more and more pros are discovering the advantages of SteelFiber composite iron shafts,” said Aerotech Golf President Chris Hilleary.
In 2012, SteelFiber shafts were the No. 1 iron composite shaft on the PGA TOUR for the third consecutive year. In addition to their second-straight Ryder Cup appearance, SteelFiber shafts won the 2012 FedExCup title, the TOUR Championship, The Players Championship and the Farmers Insurance Open and collected 21 Top 10 finishes on the PGA and Champions Tours. In 2011, two of the Top Eight players in the final FedExCup standings played SteelFiber shafts and SteelFiber delivered two Top Three finishes in the PGA TOUR PlayOffs.
SteelFiber shafts provide superior performance through innovative composite engineering that combines a high-modulus graphite core with 59 miles of steel fiber lacing the shaft surface. While the shaft’s graphite core provides vibration dampening, increased clubhead speed and maximum distance, the steel fibers produce optimum weighting for a solid feel at impact and add stability and control for pinpoint accuracy. Originally developed for irons the SteelFiber technology now enhances the performance of hybrids, fairway woods and drivers.
