Los Angeles, CA – TGA Premier Junior Golf, the only national after-school golf enrichment program in the country, and one of the leading initiatives to grow the game of golf, has honored four of its leading franchises recently by awarding the annual TGA Premier Junior Golf “5 E’s for Excellence Awards”. The awards were presented at the TGA National Conference in December held at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Dallas Texas.
“This year’s honorees have shown a level of excellence and commitment to impacting the lives of youth and communities across the country while growing the game of golf,” said Joshua Jacobs, founder and CEO of TGA Premier Junior Golf. “We look forward every year to recognizing our leading franchises and their success in growing their self-sustaining business and making golf accessible and affordable through our unique five-level golf enrichment program while transitioning them to local golf facilities.”
The 5 E’s are engrained into TGA’s business culture as well as the TGA curriculum, which guide the interaction of the youth. The 5 E’s include Engage, Educate, Embrace, Empower, and Explore. The following TGA franchise owners earned the honors this year:
Lee Warner Engage Award – Troy Lewis, TGA of West DFW and PGA professional in Texas, earned the Engage Award, which is given to the territory who engages the TGA system for the overall benefit of the franchises and TGA as a whole. Lewis, a member of the North Texas Section of the PGA of America, helped to create the first player pathway program that transitions students from schools to local golf courses. He has also become a leader among TGA franchise operators dealing with various company challenges and issues between TGA HQ and franchise territories.
Educate Award – Dave Robinson – TGA of Macomb and Gross Pointe in Michigan, earned the Educate Award, which is given to the territory who impacted the most enrichment students, as well as receiving the highest scores on customer surveys over the course of the year. Dave, who also operates two other franchises in the Detroit area, impacted over 2,300 students in 2012 through after-school enrichment programs and summer camps.
Embrace Award – Dave Robinson – TGA of East Oakland County in Michigan, earned his second of the 5 E’s awards, the Embrace Award, which is given to the territory with the highest student retention rates and the most students being transitioned to local golf courses from enrichment programs at schools. Dave, who has built one of the most successful TGA programs in the country, also received the 2012 Dul Family Player Development Award by the Michigan Golf Course Owners Association for the program that overcomes the non-golfer’s perceived barriers to playing golf such as: time, cost and intimidation.
Joe Hollday Empower Award – Jason Haynes – TGA of Collin County in Texas earned the Empower Award, which is given to the territory that generates the most revenue per student during the calendar year. Haynes has developed one of the top franchises in the company, and the leading revenue producer among franchises this year through his many after-school enrichment programs and summer camps.
Michael Jacobs Explore Award – Paul Maskill, TGA of TGA of West Wake County in North Carolina, earned the Explore Award, which is given to the territory who greatly enhances their community through various local relationships. Maskill has made a significant impact in his territory through school donations and scholarships. He donated $500 to two schools in order to make a PE classes field day possible so the school could purchase equipment, as well as donating golf equipment to a school for running golf PE classes. In addition, Maskill also gave scholarships in excess of $2,500 for youth to experience TGA programs, raised funds for “Teacher Appreciation Days”, worked with non-profit camps for children and adults with autism, and participated in other various health oriented events to help children.
