World-renowned instructor to participate in product launch at PGA Merchandise Show Booth 391
(SCOTTSDALE, AZ) – Boccieri Golf – maker of award-wining equipment such as the Tour-proven Heavy Putter – announces renowned instructor Rick Smith will join Jack Nicklaus as an endorser of the new Secret Grip, a patented technological breakthrough that allows players to easily back-weight their clubs for improved consistency, control and distance, just by replacing their grips.
In conjunction with the official product launch, Smith will meet with PGA Professionals, journalists and others at PGA Merchandise Show Booth 391 from 10am-2pm on Friday, January 25.
Smith, who consistently ranks among the world’s top-10 instructors, has taught major champions like Nicklaus, Phil Mickelson, Lee Janzen and Greg Norman among others. As part of this agreement, he will appear in company marketing, and personally use the Secret Grip while incorporating it into the curriculum at his famed Rick Smith Golf Academies.
“The Secret Grip is way more than just a grip, it teaches what I have been trying to get my students to do for years,” says Smith. “By automatically promoting better body mechanics, it allows players to take the club back on plane, set the hands quickly for a smooth transition and easily square the face at impact for excellent consistency on each shot.”
Designed to be installed quickly and affordably on clubs from every manufacturer, the Secret Grip’s heavier weight raises the club’s balance point, promoting consistently crisp contact for greater control and distance. This is achieved via a tungsten weight in the butt-end, combined with a compound that is 40-percent heavier than what is used in standard grips.
“Partnering with key influencers like Rick and Jack helps immediately bring the topic of back-weighting to the forefront and proves how beneficial it really is,” says Stephen Boccieri, President and CEO of Boccieri Golf. “With this innovation, we’re allowing players to experience the technology without needing to purchase a new set of clubs or go through the expensive and time consuming process of using a back-weight kit.”
Secret Grip will also be available for testing on Wednesday, January 23, at Orange County National Golf Club during the PGA Show Demo Day, and at the Equipment Testing Center (ETC 45-46) during the main show. One FREE grip will be given to any participant who tests it and compares results to clubs outfitted with a standard grip.
During the past 18 months, more than 3,000 golfers have been involved in beta testing this product. Each player compared two identical clubs – one with a standard grip and the other with a Secret Grip – using a launch-monitor to record data. Over 95 percent preferred the Secret Grip.
Further advantages of the Secret Grip ($16.99 each) include:
Total length one-inch longer than standard, allowing players to grip-down for improved play around the green or on uneven lies
A built-up lower section – often preferred by PGA Tour players – completely removes the need for additional grip tape wrapping

About Boccieri Golf
Founded in 2005 by Stephen Boccieri, the company’s popular Heavy Putter collection and Control Series line of full-swing products were the first to integrate counterweight principals. This unique approach to club design is proven to benefit golfers of all skill levels, as strategically placed weight in the butt-end of the shaft produces a higher balance point to promote smoother, more repeatable swings from driver through putter.
The company recently opened a state-of-the-art Research and Performance Center at 15816 N. Greenway-Hayden Loop in Scottsdale. Coinciding with significant growth in demand for the entire Boccieri Golf portfolio, the 9,000-square-foot facility offers a variety of services, including custom club fitting, high-tech swing analysis and practice time on life-like simulators.
Boccieri Golf equipment has played a key role in victories on the PGA, European, Champions, Nationwide, Asian, Canadian and European Challenge Tours. In addition, its products have received vast critical acclaim from a variety of respected golf and lifestyle media outlets.
