Pure Grips Team With Hank Haney At PGA Merchandise Show

January 22, 2013

Company will be at booth 1417 and at Outdoor Demo Day

Scottsdale, Ariz. – A new year means a host of new products for PURE grips as it heads into its fourth PGA Merchandise Show on Jan. 24-26 in Orlando, Fla. PURE grips will show off its 2013 line at Booth 1417 on the show floor, as well as the Outdoor Demo Day at the Orange County National Golf Center on Jan. 23. Once again, acclaimed golf instructor Hank Haney, one of the company’s top partners, will be on the show floor to help promote the new line of products, including the first grip designed in collaboration with Haney.

2012 proved to be the most successful year yet for PURE grips, as it continued to grow its industry partnerships and dealer list, and enjoyed the first full year of having Haney serve as the face of PURE grips. This year promises continued growth for the young company and, in addition to its wide assortment of colors, PURE grips will be promoting a pair of new grips at the show: the new Classic Putter grip and the DTX.

From 11 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Jan. 24, Hank Haney will be at the PURE booth to debut the DTX design, talk about the products and greet customers. Haney uses PURE products throughout his various business ventures, including his golf schools and teaching academies both in the United States and internationally.

“The PURE grips DTX design was intended to offer all of the advantages of PURE grips technology, including the 12-month guarantee, to the current cord grip player,” said Haney. “The combination of contrasting textures in the DTX delivers a great simulation of a cord feel, but adds the seamless molding and amazing rubber from PURE grips. The DTX has a unique feel, offering a combination of rough and tacky that any golfer will love, including cord players.”

Like all PURE grips, the DTX is molded without a seam or parting line and is not buffed. This molding technique and the full rainbow of color options in proprietary PURE grips rubber combine to make extremely tacky and durable golf grips that perform in all weather conditions and look amazing. The DTX adds a whole new element to the line of PURE grips products, appealing to a segment of golf grip consumers who have been left out of the PURE grips lineup to date.

“Throughout our first three years, one of the things our consumers kept telling us was that we need to make a putter grip and a cord grip,” said PURE grips co-founder Michael Smith. “We’ve launched our first putter grip, but we will never make a cord grip. That’s because the cord material in a golf grip absorbs sweat and oil from hands and draws into the rubber material. When the oils dry, so does the rubber. This is why buffed corded grips are so notorious for quickly drying and becoming slick, which defeats the purpose of having a cord to avoid a slick grip in the first place.”

Working with Haney, PURE crafted a unique grip that offers all the benefits of a cord grip, but without any of the drawbacks. The DTX features two opposing textures, a smooth and extremely tacky surface and a rougher more gritty texture. The repetitive and alternating pattern provides the feeling of secure traction and pleasant tack unlike any other grip on the market.

PURE also will be showcasing its new Classic Putter grip at Booth 1417. The Classic Putter debuted in late 2012 and has quickly become a hot seller for PURE.

“We took a look at all of the things that we loved about the great putter grips throughout golf history and tried to distill them down to a simple design that anyone can use,” said Darin Osmundson, the lead designer of the Classic Putter. “It just seems to fit into your hand so naturally, and we are really excited at how it feels, as well as the response we are getting to it.”

The PURE putter grip uses the same proprietary rubber as other PURE grips, offering a soft, tacky feel that molds perfectly into the golfer’s hands without any harsh or sharp edges. Available in nine colors, the incredible feel of the Classic Putter grip inspires confidence as you stand over every putt.

“A lot of golfers don’t re-grip their putters that often, and many of them have been playing with putter grips that are many years old,” said Haney. “Feel is one of the most essential components of putting. We are excited to offer a solution that makes it easier to re-grip your putter and will give you better touch and feel on the green.”

PURE grips require no adhesive tapes or solvents to install. Instead, they are installed using a proprietary quick-connecting tool, which uses the simple power of air pressure to install the grips as securely as any adhesive. Once installed on a steel or graphite shaft, the grip provides optimal stability while the elasticity of the rubber combines with friction to create “rubber memory,” ensuring the grip will not loosen or slip.

The star of Golf Channel’s popular reality program The Haney Project, Haney is active in raising the awareness of PURE grips through its social media channels. Regarded as one of the premier instructors in the game, Haney has worked with more than 200 touring professionals throughout his career. His students have won every major championship in professional, amateur and junior golf.

PURE grips feature superior feel and comfort, exceptional durability and easy installation, all at a great value. PURE’s innovative precision molding process uses the company’s proprietary rubber formula, which creates grips that are highly durable, appealingly tacky and are available in a range of firmness options for shock absorption and feel. All PURE grips are guaranteed to remain supple and tacky and to perform in all conditions for 12 months.
