(VIENNA, VA) – Billy Casper Golf (BCG) – the largest domestic owner-operator of golf courses, country clubs and resorts – won the International Golf Network Industry Honors award for Tournament Service during the 2013 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando.
BCG Chairman and CEO Peter Hill accepted the award from former LPGA Tour legend Jan Stephenson.
On Monday, August 13, 2012, BCG hosted more than 7,800 golfers at 100 of its golf courses in 24 states during the second annual “World’s Largest Golf Outing,” raising more than $400,000 for Wounded Warrior Project™ (WWP). The simultaneous golf outing at BCG properties included participation of more than 85 wounded warriors. WWP is the national non-profit organization that honors and empowers injured service men and women.
“We are honored to receive this award and dedicate it to the wounded warriors who have sacrificed in the name of our country,” says Peter Hill, Chairman and CEO of BCG. “Our Billy Casper Golf team should be commended for seamlessly producing a world-class event; the generosity of our loyal golfers has been overwhelming and humbling.”
This year, “World’s Largest Golf Outing” will be held on Monday, August 12, 2013 and BCG will once again partner with WWP.
The ING Industry Honors program recognizes outstanding achievement in the golf business. Nominees in a dozen categories are submitted throughout the year from anyone in the golf industry. Sub-committees that include experts in each category then trim the entries to the top three. ING members vote electronically to determine the winners, who are announced and recognized at the Industry Honors Presentation press conference.
Launched by BCG in 2011, last year’s “World’s Largest Golf Outing” player registration and fundraising grew by 250% and 700%, respectively. In addition to a portion of entry fees WWP received, donations were accepted.
