February 7, 2013 – Birmingham, Ala. – Honours Golf Company has announced that Casey M. Smith III will serve as director of golf for the 18-hole championship course located at NorthRiver® Yacht Club, a private club in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Smith returns to NorthRiver® Yacht Club nearly 10 years after he first worked at the property as an assistant golf professional and intern. In his new position, Smith oversees the entire golf operations as well as plays an integral role in the development of Play Golf America programs, member relations, tournament operations and customer service.
“Casey Smith started with the company as an intern and has become a tremendous asset to the Honours Golf team,” said Bob Barrett, Honours Golf CEO. “He has an established record of producing results and developing initiatives that enhance the customer experience and the overall golf operations.”
From 2010 until joining NorthRiver® Yacht Club, Smith served as director of golf at Cider Ridge Golf Club, an 18-hole municipal golf course located in Oxford, Ala., which is also managed by Honours Golf. During his tenure, he facilitated a $1.6 million renovation of the property, launched an instruction program for new golfers and significantly increased rounds of golf and facility revenue. The growth in merchandise sales at the property led to his being selected as the 2011 Merchandiser of the Year by the Alabama chapter, Dixie Section of the Professional Golf Association (PGA).
Prior to that, Smith served as head golf professional at the Honours-managed FarmLinks Golf Club in Sylacauga, Ala. Smith oversaw the golf and tournament operations of this 4 ½ star Golf Digest-rated course, assisted with daily food and beverage operations, as well as lodging and security operations. During his tenure at FarmLinks, the club was selected three consecutive years by the National Golf Foundation (NGF) as the highest rated course in the premium category for customer loyalty and satisfaction ratings. He served as executive director of The First Tee of Pursell Farms and was recognized as the 2009 regional Junior Leader of the Year by the PGA’s Dixie Section.
He is a Class A PGA member and a graduate of Mississippi State University in Starkville, Miss., where he earned a bachelor of business administration degree in professional golf management.
