Stafford, VA – NIKE Golf sales representative Scott Bavaro has been selected by the Middle Atlantic PGA Section as the 2013 Salesperson of the Year. This award bestows special recognition on a golf salesperson in the mid-Atlantic region for his/her outstanding service and dedication to the members and apprentices of the MAPGA, as well as support of the Section through sponsorships and other programs. Bavaro will be recognized in front of his peers at the MAPGA Hall of Fame and Awards banquet to be held on March 9, 2013 at the Gaithersburg Marriott Washingtonian Center in Gaithersburg, Md.
Bavaro grew up in Catonsville, Md. until the age of 14 when his family moved to Columbia, Md. where he attended Oakland Mills High School. At the age of 12, Bavaro was introduced to the game of golf by his dad who, at that time, lived in Montauk, New York and owned an Italian restaurant that was conveniently situated on a golf course. Many of Bavaro’s teenage summers were spent playing golf during the day and bussing tables at night in his dad’s restaurant.
Following graduation from West Virginia University, Bavaro’s first golf sales position came in 1999 when he accepted a position with SoftSpikes, Inc., the innovator of non-metal golf shoe cleats. After three successful years with SoftSpikes, he achieved National Sales Manager status and was approached by NIKE Golf to cover their equipment sales accounts in Maryland, Washington D.C., Southern Delaware, and Central Pennsylvania.
As a representative of NIKE Golf for over seven years, Bavaro has been a strong supporter of the MAPGA and the PGA Members in the Section. His account holders praise him for his dependability and great service. For his hard work, Bavaro was recognized by NIKE Golf as their 2009 Eastern Regional Sales Representative of the Year and their 2012 National Sales Representative of the Year.
