Jemsek Golf reacquires Summer Grove in Newnan, Ga., and forms joint venture with
Affiniti Golf partners to open the course to first public play since 2006
Newnan, Ga. (February 16, 2013) – Jemsek Golf, the family company that originally designed, built and opened Summer Grove Golf Club here in 1999, has re-acquired ownership of the 18-hole facility and opened it to public and new member play for the first time in seven years.
Jemsek Golf owned and operated Summer Grove for seven years before selling it to Canongate Golf Clubs in 2006. The ownership transferred to Jemsek Golf effective Friday, February 15, 2013. Canongate previously ran SummerGrove as a private club.
Jemsek Golf president, Katherine Jemsek, will direct operations for the family-owned and managed business and has retained Affiniti Golf Partners to provide a range of services to help promote and market the facility to local and regional golfers.
Said Jemsek, “Jemsek Golf is pleased to be back in the Atlanta area and especially back at Summer Grove. It is a challenging layout for golfers of all abilities. Our practice facility is one of the best in the area with grass tees on both ends of the range, a great short game area and a 3-hole, par 3. We look forward to promoting the game with introduction to golf programs.”
Summer Grove, designed by Joe Jemsek and Jeff Burton, was named Best New Public Golf Course by Golf Digest in 2000. The 18-hole, par 72, championship layout, which stretches to 6,954 yards from the back tees, offers five sets of tees to make the course challenging and enjoyable.
Summer Grove Golf Club is the centerpiece of SummerGrove, a 1,400-acre gated community just off I-85 in Newnan, Ga. Amenities at SummerGrove include a private 100-acre lake, three swimming pools, tennis courts, parks, playgrounds and miles of pedestrian paths.
“We’re equally excited to re-engage with residents of the SummerGrove community, many of whom participated in our grand opening back in ’99,” added Jemsek. “The club is already busy planning fun events, golf activities and special holiday plans to foster a fellowship between the club and the families who live at SummerGrove.”
