The match play format was filled with excitement throughout the week with the top-64 players in the world to going head-to-head. The last man standing was the 2012 Players Championship winner with a SuperStroke grip in his hand, taking home his first WGC title.
The former Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket won all 6 of his matches which included the final match against the defending champion, a 2 and 1 victory. Using his 21″ SuperStroke grip in the “forearm-lock” putting position, the 5-time PGA Tour winner remained clutch all week on the tricky greens at Dove Mountain. This victory jumped him from 23rd to 8th in the Official World Golf Rankings and up to 2nd in FedEx cup points.
A SuperStroke Slim 3.0 was also in the hands of the T4 finisher at the Web.com season-opening event in Panama. This top-5 finish coupled with the success at the WGC event earned TOUR players just under $2 million in earnings for the week.
