Stafford, VA – Tim Krebs, the PGA Head Professional at East Potomac Golf Course (Washington D.C.), is the recipient of the MAPGA’s 2013 Player Development Award. This award bestows special recognition on a PGA Professional for exemplary contributions and achievements in the area of Player Development and for extraordinary efforts in conducting and/or supporting Play Golf America initiatives. This award considers the PGA Professional’s growth of the game leadership commitment at the Section and National levels, plus the impact made at his/her own facility. Krebs will be recognized in front of his peers at the MAPGA Hall of Fame and Awards banquet to be held on March 9, 2013 at the Gaithersburg Marriott Washingtonian Center in Gaithersburg, Md.
Krebs became the General Manager at East Potomac Golf Course in 2008. Since his arrival, the facility has received numerous accolades including Golf Range Association of America’s Top 100 Driving Ranges (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011), and Top 50 Driving Range Facility in 2012 as well as Golf Digest Best Places to Play (2009, 2010) and Top 100 Play Golf America Course (2010 and 2011). Individually, Krebs earned Golf Range Magazine’s Top 50 Golf Instructors accolade (2009 and 2010).
In the area of player development, Krebs and his East Potomac team have done an incredible job of generating over 2,000 new golfers in the last two years by embracing the golf industry’s new golfer program, Get Golf Ready. These new golfers have, in turn, generated over 11,000 rounds of golf at the facility. For frequent golfers, East Potomac’s loyalty program offers the opportunity for customers to earn points toward complimentary items like rounds of golf or range balls. The annual East Potomac Play Golf America Day attracts nearly 400 people and offers free 10-minute lessons, prize giveaways and hole-in-one contests. For his female clientele, Krebs hosts a free networking reception that delivers an inspiring presentation by a key female in the golf industry. In 2012, over 250 women attended the event which featured former WNBA Commissioner Donna Orender.
Krebs has made a concerted effort to be an active member of the Middle Atlantic PGA. He currently sits on the Section’s Player Development Committee and has been instrumental in generating “out of the box” ideas for growing the game on a regional level. He continues the legacy of East Potomac’s dedication to community outreach within the DC community by hosting the MAPGA/DC Public Schools golf program known as “Paul Berry’s Hook a Kid on Golf.” This program brings golf to over 170 inner city students who may have never had the opportunity otherwise and offers a scholarship to one student each year to further his or her education. East Potomac is also home to The First Tee of Washington DC where over 400 juniors received golf partnership and instruction free of charge in 2012.
