Dallas, TX – Troy Lewis, PGA professional and owner of the TGA Premier Junior Golf (TGA) franchises in Denton, Tarrant and Collin Counties has been awarded the 2012 Randy Smith Junior Golf Leader award by the North Texas Section of the PGA of America (NTPGA).
“I’m honored to be recognized among so many great golf professionals who have a passion for reaching kids through the game of golf,” said Lewis. “The PGA Professionals in our section have set a high standard for excellence and we hope to lead the promotion of junior golf across the nation for the PGA of America.”
The NTPGA members selected Lewis, the PGA director of instruction at The Golf Club at Fossil Creek, for his achievement in developing successful junior golf programs, which are positively impacting youth and growing the game.
Lewis has built one of the leading junior golf programs in the state of Texas through his successful TGA Premier Junior Golf franchises, which he launched in 2006. The TGA programs are engaging students at over 50 elementary and middle schools, as well as two partner golf courses in the Dallas Fort Worth area.
In addition, Lewis has developed a dynamic junior golf program at Fossil Creek for players of all ages and abilities, which has grown steadily over the years with 30-50 kids participating each month.
Lewis and TGA, together with the North Texas PGA section, have also developed the first ‘Player Pathway’ program to seamlessly transition students from learning golf in schools to NTPGA junior programs and onto area golf courses where they can take lessons from local PGA Professionals.
“This new Player Pathway program is the first program of its kind in the industry, which will engage students 10 and under, and their parents ages 25-40, providing a clear picture of all the ways they can get involved in the game of golf for years to come,” explains Lewis. “I am very excited about the opportunity to be launching this new program and bringing more juniors into the game.”
