Every contestant in world’s largest amateur golf tournament to receive free lesson from smartphone app powered by GolfTEC and SI Golf Group
Centennial, CO (March 13, 2013) – If the competition in this year’s Golf.com World Amateur Handicap Championship in Myrtle Beach is especially tight, credit “My Pro To Go,” the golf-instruction app created by GolfTEC-the world leader in golf improvement-and Sports Illustrated Golf Group.
Every one of the 3,500 entrants in this year’s championship will receive the “My Pro To Go” smartphone app and one free lesson from one of GolfTEC’s more than 550 Certified Personal Coaches. Since GolfTEC boasts a 95% success rate from its hundreds of thousands of students, expect those players competing in the world’s largest amateur tournament-celebrating its 30th anniversary and being contested August 26-30, 2013, over more than 60 courses in Myrtle Beach-to be bringing their A games.
Registration for the championship opens on April 3 at an early-entry cost of $450 (the fee jumps up to $550 on May 15). As soon as contestants have registered and paid, they will receive a special code allowing them to qualify for a free “My Pro To Go” lesson as soon as they’re ready.
Getting the free lesson is as easy as: 1) Taking a smartphone video of the swing from front and side views; 2) Sending the video to “My Pro To Go” through the app or website; 3) Receiving a video swing lesson and drill back from a GolfTEC coach within 48 hours.
“What better way to help our players get ready for competition than with some great instruction from GolfTEC and SI Golf Group?” asks Jeff Monday, tournament director. “They’ll get their codes as soon as they sign up, which means they can start getting their games ready for the championship right away.”
The Golf.com World Amateur Handicap Championship is a 72-hole, net stroke-play event. Competitors will be divided into flights based on gender, age, and handicap. Golfers play four days in a row and on a different course each day. All flight winners and ties compete in a fifth-round championship playoff to determine the net winner.
Entrants also get nightly admission to the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, site of the “World’s Largest 19th Hole,” a three-hour golf extravaganza featuring an open bar, food, entertainment, golf expo, daily leaderboards, games and contests, and instruction from GolfTEC and “My Pro To Go.”
Registration is open through August 1, 2013, and golfers get the “My Pro To Go” app and free lesson at the time of sign up.
