Augusta, Ga., April 1, 2013 – Club Car, a brand of Ingersoll Rand, has produced a golf car maintenance guide to help courses keep their golf car fleets performing at their best. To receive a complimentary copy of the guide, email info@clubcar.com.
“The condition of the golf car fleet at the end of the lease term helps determine its trade value and contributes to the experience operators offer their members and customers,” said Tim Walls, golf category manager for Club Car. “That’s why it makes sense to keep the fleet looking and performing at its best.”
Electrical system (batteries and charging), tire pressure, overnight storage, cleaning and car rotation are among the areas covered in the guide, which also includes a maintenance checklist that encourages operators to make evaluation of their fleets a part of their daily activity.
Opportunities to reduce costs associated with the golf car fleet start with some simple observations and best practices, according to Club Car.
• Visually inspect cars for alignment issues, low tire pressure, bald tires and charge errors. Poor alignment or low tire pressure can increase your daily fuel consumption and cause uneven tire wear.
• Watering batteries before charging will likely cause an overfill condition and battery leak that will shorten battery life.
• Turning the key off and putting the FNR switch in neutral reduces vehicle power draw and prevents unintended vehicle movement.
• Loose battery wires increase terminal heat when charging, reduce charging efficiency, reduce daily battery capacity and decrease the life of batteries.
“Operators who are diligent about the maintenance of their fleets – and instill a culture of best practices among their entire staff – will control costs and contribute to a better experience for their members and customers,” Walls said.
