North Stonington, Conn., April 4, 2013 – Lake of Isles’ North Course, a Rees Jones design, was voted No. 1 in Connecticut on Golfweek’s 2013 state-by-state list of “America’s Best Courses You Can Play.” This is the North Course’s seventh consecutive appearance as No. 1 in the state. Lake of Isles is owned by the Mashantucket Pequot Nation, which also owns Foxwoods Resort Casino.
“Our consistent ranking of No. 1 in the state is due to the commitment of the Mashantucket Pequot Nation and Troon Golf,” said Archie Cart, Lake of Isles, general manager. “We take great pride in providing our guests with the ultimate experience from pristine course conditions, five-star service and amenities that are found only at Lake of Isles and Foxwoods.”
Golfweek’s state-by-state rankings appeared in the magazine’s March 7 issue and can also be found online at golfweek.com. The rankings are based on Golfweek’s panel of raters that evaluates courses using the following criteria: overall strength of routing, feature shaping, natural setting, greens, variety and memorability of holes, conditioning and maintenance, and landscape management.
The North Course is a par-72 layout that stretches more than 7,300 yards from the championship tees. The course features rolling fairways, island tees and greens and extraordinary views, which blend nicely with the incredible natural landscape. The North Course is open to guests of Foxwoods Resort Casino and daily-fee golfers. Lake of Isles offers golf packages starting at $199 per person with accommodations at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods Resort Casino.
Lake of Isles, a 36-hole Rees Jones-designed golf club located in North Stonington, Connecticut, opened in May 2005. Owned by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and located across the street from Foxwoods Resort Casino, the two courses wind their way through 900 acres of wooded Connecticut countryside and around a 90-acre lake. Managed by Troon Golf, the worldwide leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing, Lake of Isles offers the ultimate golf experience. In addition to superior service and impeccable course conditions, amenities include a 50,000 sq. ft. clubhouse, a state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor practice facility.
