Resort community joins with Georgia Department of Economic Development,
Tourism Division to promote golf in the peach state
Greensboro, Ga.(April 15, 2013) – Harbor Club, a 1,600-acre resort community located on the shores of Lake Oconee, has become a Founding Member in the newly established Georgia Golf Trail, a partnership between the Georgia Department of Economic Development Tourism Division and Georgia Golf & Travel (www.georgiagolfandtravel.com).
The mission of that partnership is to promote the trial and awareness of Georgia as one of the premier golf destinations in the world, while increasing travel and visitor expenditures throughout the state.
As a Founding Member of the Georgia Golf Trail, Harbor Club will support a variety of marketing initiatives by the State, including regional print advertising, a presence in Georgia’s 11 Welcome Centers across the state, promotion to tour operators and travel agents at international tourism trade shows, plus high visibility on the Trail’s website and a strong on-line marketing push.
“This is a unique and formative opportunity for Harbor Club to enhance its presence as a national-class golf destination, both domestically and internationally, and we look forward to being a highly active and supportive member of the Georgia Golf Trail,” says Harbor Club general manager, Brandon Matney.
Harbor Club is a 1,600-acre gated golf community located halfway between Atlanta and Augusta. The community consists of nine miles of shoreline along Lake Oconee, Georgia’s second largest lake. And its centerpiece is the highly rated Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish-designed golf course, given multiple awards and rankings including 4½ out of 5 Stars by Golf Digest as “Best Places to Play” for the past three years running.
Harbor Club joins with such other premier Georgia golf resorts as Sea Island, Callaway Gardens and Barnsley Gardens as Founding Members dedicated to advancing the State’s golf-rich heritage.
According to Georgia Golf & Travel president, Doug Hollandsworth, “Georgia is rich in golf history. From the mountains to the plains and on to the Atlantic Coast, we want to show the world how much the Peach State has to offer the golfer and the traveler. Whether it is for business or a weekend get-away, any tourist will find the sights and sounds of Georgia to be a top travel destination.”
Additional resort amenities at Harbor Club include an expansive outdoor Swim and Tennis facility with junior Olympic swimming pool and double lighted tennis courts. The 15,000 sq. ft. clubhouse, designed by award-winning Southern Living architect Stephen Fuller, offers full-service dining, a fully stocked golf shop, men’s and women’s locker rooms and a fitness center. The resort community also offers a variety of fully-equipped lodging options located just minutes from the golf course.
