CARLSBAD, Calif. (April 24, 2013) – Nippon Shaft was the steel shaft of choice for the winner of this year’s LPGA Lotte Championship at Ko Olina golf club in Hawaii on April 20.

The 32-year-old Norwegian champion used Nippon Shaft’s N.S. PRO MODUS3 Tour 120 steel shafts in her Nike irons en route to her one-hole sudden death playoff victory. She won with a par on the 18th hole while her opponent made a double bogey.

The winner shot 19-under par 269 in regulation on rounds of 65-69-68-67, and wound up earning her 11th LPGA title. She currently is ranked fifth in the LPGA’s international Rolex player rankings.

“This year’s winner of the Lotte Championship is truly one of the LPGA’s top and most enduring players, and Nippon Shaft is proud that she has chosen our products as she continues to achieve great results,” said Hiro Fukuda, head of sales and marketing for the Japan-based company. “Nippon Shaft sends its heartfelt congratulations to her.”

In 2012, Nippon Shaft recorded more than 50 victories on professional golf tours worldwide, as the best players in the world increasingly chose to install in their irons steel shafts manufactured in Japan to unparalleled quality standards.

Nippon Shaft products are available either as stock or custom shafts in many of the world’s top iron brands.

In addition, Nippon Shaft products are available through Shaftology – Nippon Shaft’s dedicated clubfitter network – and through the custom club departments of top club manufacturers.

Nippon Shaft manufactures all of its steel and graphite shafts in a state-of-the-art factory in Komagane, Japan. The company’s integrated production lines are strictly monitored and controlled with thorough checks conducted responsibly through the entire production process, Fukuda said. As a result, Nippon Shaft is able to control high product quality – from material selection to final testing.

Nippon Shaft has more than 100 professional victories worldwide. Based in Yokohama, Japan, Nippon Shaft is the No. 1-selling steel shaft in Asia.

Nippon Shaft is a privately-held subsidiary of NHK Spring Co. LTD, a Japanese automobile parts manufacturer. Nippon Shaft’s North American headquarters is in Carlsbad.
