Quincy, Mass. – GolfGetaways Magazine, the only publication dedicated 100 percent to golf travel and the lifestyle that goes with it, is now available on Apple’s iTunes Newsstand for immediate download.
GolfGetaways’ all-new, custom-optimized iPad edition kicks off with an expanded, stand-alone “Essential Destinations” issue focusing on Golf Cape Breton. What is an extensive 24-page feature in the magazine’s print version has expanded digitally into a 140-page, interactive journey into North America’s hottest new golf destination complete with extensive story by Executive Editor Vic Williams, exclusive photography by Brian Oar and numerous links to GolfGetaways’ YouTube channel for Golf Cape Breton interviews and features hosted by Mitch Laurance and shot and produced by Managing Editor Darin Bunch. The result is an immersive, engaging experience that takes full advantage of the tablet environment and makes the magazine more accessible than ever to millions of potential readers via iTunes and whatever gadget they’re packing – iPad, iPad Mini, iPhone or iPod Touch.
Designed especially for the tablet environment, each GolfGetaways iPad edition also features links to the magazine’s Facebook page, Twitter feeds and Instagram photo gallery. Barnes & Noble Nook and Amazon Kindle versions will be available later this year.
Development of GolfGetaways for the tablet environment began in 2012 and continued through the title’s change from Fairways + Greens in November. “The debut of our iPad edition is an exciting chapter in our overall evolution into our new GolfGetaways identity after 15 years as Fairways + Greens magazine,” says Williams. “I personally read several publications on iPad, some of them exclusively, and to me it’s a great experience, especially when interactive media such as video is incorporated into the package. While print continues to be the linchpin of our title’s presence in the marketplace, I look forward to bringing our wealth of award-winning golf travel-content to a new and deeper digital readership.”
Moving forward, every bi-monthly print issue of GolfGetaways will also be offered on iPad, with every advertiser enjoying live links to their websites and the ability to add enhanced interactive elements. Most will include special digital-only content, while stand-alone themed issues such as Golf Cape Breton will be delivered to readers throughout the year. “This makes GolfGetaways an even greater value for our digital-only subscribers,” Williams says.
Upcoming GolfGetaways tablet issues include the Nebraska Golf Travel Guide; 101 Things to Do This Summer (enhanced March-April print edition); Essential Destination: Bandon; Golf & Beaches Issue (enhanced May-June print edition); The Best of Golf Travel 2013; and the Ultimate Golf & Gaming Guide (enhanced July-Aug print edition).
The GolfGetaways app is free for download from the Apple App Store, while each issue is available for $3.99 per issue or $14.99 for an annual subscription. For more information about GolfGetaways, including editorial, subscription and advertising contacts, visit www.playgolfgetaways.com.
