ORLANDO, Fla. (May 13, 2013) – Golfers who book their tee times on GolfNow, the world’s largest online tee time service operated by Golf Channel, recently ranked the top courses in three Florida markets. Their choices: Orlando – Deer Island Country Club in Tavares, Miami – Palm Beach Par 3 in Palm Beach and Naples – Colonial Country Club in Fort Myers.
Golfers who reserve a tee time using GolfNow have an opportunity to review a course and provide feedback based on their experience. Golfers can rate a course with one to five stars, write a review and read reviews from other golfers. There are more than two million registered GolfNow users.
Deer Island designer, the late Joe Lee, called the course his most distinctive work, and the club says the course is Central Florida’s “most unforgettable golf experience.” Water, panoramic views and wildlife are part of every hole on a course that carves its way through environmentally protected Florida wetlands.
“Very nice layout, lots of water and some very challenging holes. Will definitely come back, even though over an hour away,” Frank Scobel of Haines City wrote in his review of Deer Island. “Starter and other staff outstanding with explanations and help. Pace of play less than 4 hours. Sweet!”
Beautiful landscaping, breathtaking views of the Intracostal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean and lush conditions create a stunning tropical setting for the Palm Beach Par 3.
“It definitely challenges your short game, and in a big wind, even your driver won’t get it on some greens,” Susan Casscells of West Palm Beach said in her review of the course that has been redesigned by Raymond Floyd. “It takes about 2 to 2 ½ hours to play. There should be more courses like this for the weekend golfer.”
Golfers have come to expect great conditions and a stern test when they play Colonial Country Club. Whether playing from the back tees, which stretch the course to 7,400 yards, or from one of four other sets of tees, Colonial is tight off the tee and filled with challenge through the green.
“This was one of the best tracks I played. Wind was up, so a few holes played especially hard. Fairways and greens were pristine and resulted in a very enjoyable day,” Jim Hessel of Ottawa wrote in his review.
The top-10 rankings by market are compiled using GolfNow’s star rating system and are calculated based on the number of recommendations a course receives from reviewing golfers.
The ratings-and-reviews feature not only highlights a course’s overall star rating, but also provides the latest information on course conditions and difficulty, staff friendliness, pace of play and value as rated by other golfers. Since the GolfNow ratings and reviews service was launched in October, more than 33,000 golfers have submitted a course review. More information on these and other courses that are part of the GolfNow network is at GolfNow.com.
