PHILADELPHIA — (May 13, 2013) – The new hit show, Traveling Golfer, presented by Yuengling Brewery, is moving into its second phase of expansion.
The golf travel and lifestyles show, hosted by award-winning golf writer and broadcaster Tony Leodora, is expanding from the world of websites to traditional television. The Traveling Golfer is entering into syndication, becoming part of golf and sports talk shows across the country.
The first affiliate show is the Press Box, a weekly two-hour show that airs on HTC Ch. 4 in the Coastal South Carolina area every Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. The Traveling Golfer will debut on Monday, May 20. After that it will be a regular feature of the show on the second Monday of every month – plus additional weeks when a special edition may air.
The Press Box is produced by Lucky Dog Television Productions. Donald Smith, a veteran of the television production business in the South Carolina region for 32 years, is the producer. The show is hosted by two-time South Carolina Sportscaster of the Year, Allen Smothers.
Previously, Smothers and Leodora worked together on the GolfTalk Live radio show that originates in Philadelphia and is syndicated throughout the region.
“The chance to work together with Tony Leodora was very exciting to me,” said Smothers, who also plans to have Leodora on the Press Box show as a guest throughout the year. “I regard him to be the foremost golf writer, broadcaster and golf expert in the country. There isn’t a facet of golf that he is not familiar with.”
The Press Box show began airing in February of 2013 and has quickly gained traction throughout the region.
“Although we are a general sports show, you just can’t do a sports show in this area without golf being a part of it,” explained Smith. “When we got the opportunity to add the Traveling Golfer to our monthly lineup, I was thrilled. Plus, to have Tony’s expertise with regard to the national golf scene as well as the Myrtle Beach golf scene, is a great addition to the show. He and Allen are really able to cover the world of golf.”
Negotiations to expand the Traveling Golfer are already under way with a number of other golf shows around the country.
“Our intent is to embed the Traveling Golfer in a number of quality golf and sports shows,” said Leodora. “The network of websites has been a great success – giving us access to so many viewers at any time of the day or night. Now, we want to build a similar network of television shows.”
The Traveling Golfer was created in response to golfers’ never-ending demands to learn more about interesting golf courses and golf resorts across the country and around the world. It debuted in February of 2013 and Leodora, the well-traveled host, takes viewers on video golf trips to some of the most exciting golf locations.
The Traveling Golfer appears as a series of monthly shows hosted by Leodora, who has 13 years experience in televised golf shows. The featured destination stays on the website for one month, before being replaced by a new show. The old shows are archived on the home website, www.travelinggolfervideo.com.
A network of golf websites, of all sizes, has been created to host the new golf show. The show will have its own website — www.travelinggolfervideo.com. The network of additional websites includes www.golftalklive.net, the website of the award-winning GolfTalk Live radio show that also is hosted by Leodora.
