Holland, MI – Golf Inc. magazine, one of the leading industry publications, has selected Raymond Hearn, president and founder of Raymond Hearn Golf Course Designs, Inc., as one of the golf industry’s top innovators in their recent Spring 2013 Edition.
“I am very proud of this distinction by Golf Inc. Magazine,” states Raymond Hearn, president of Raymond Hearn Golf Course Designs, Inc. “We have been fortunate to be involved with great clients, outstanding sites and unique projects in North America, Central America, Caribbean, Europe and Asia. Our work has been a mixture of restoration, remodeling, and new designs but each with a unique component that allows us to be innovative.”
Golf Inc. invited readers to nominate the most innovative people in the golf industry during the past few years. They received over 220 nominations and the editors then selected the 18 that met their standard of doing something that was new, unique and captured the imagination of others.
Among the few of Ray’s projects that stood out to Golf Inc. included Island Hills Golf Club (http://www.islandhillsgolf.com) in Centreville, Michigan, where he created a unique short course system with five, seven, and 12 hole options all within the championship 18 hole layout that allows the club to add new revenue sources while introducing more seniors, women and juniors to the course.
At Mistwood Golf Club (http://www.mistwoodgc.com) in Romeoville, Illinois he completed a multi-million dollar renovation that incorporated 21 very dramatic stack sod wall bunkers to give it the feel of playing in the British Isles.
Other projects that he is drawing attention for include a unique one-hole Par 3 course he has master planned in the middle of downtown Seoul, South Korea, an 18-hole resort course integrated into a vineyard in the south of France, and a new master plan for the revered Club de Golf de Panama (http://clubdegolfdepanama.com) in Panama City, Panama, one of Central America’s oldest and top ranked private clubs and a tour stop of the web.com tour. On the eastern seaboard, he is very hopeful that his design of the highly anticipated Franklin Hills Golf Club in Franklin, Connecticut, will receive final permitting so construction can begin.
