New partnership showcases Omega’s continued commitment to the sport of golf as English claims first PGA Tour victory
June 14, 2013 – OMEGA, the Swiss watchmaker, announced today that Harris English has joined its team as a brand ambassador.
English, 23, is considered to be one of the most-talented young players on the PGA Tour and OMEGA is proud to welcome him to the family. He joins a roster of ambassadors featuring many golf stars and leading figures from the world of entertainment.
First PGA Tour victory
English won his first PGA Tour event on Sunday, June 9 at the FedEx St. Jude Classic in his second year on the PGA Tour. Harris English’s victory at the St. Jude Classic was his first tour win in 44 starts and it was his fourth top-10 finish of 2013. He birdied holes 16 and 17 to finish the tournament at 12-under-par and won by two shots over Phil Mickelson and Scott Stallings.
Stephen Urquhart, the president of OMEGA, was excited by English’s performance at the weekend. He said, “We want to congratulate Harris on his first victory. We know he is a very special player and it was only a matter of time before he won.” He added, “We are thrilled to have Harris join the OMEGA family. We know that he will represent the OMEGA brand well, with class and dignity.”
A competitive force in the game of golf
With nine “Top 25” and three “Top 10” finishes in his rookie season in 2012, American golfer Harris English has already established himself as a competitive force in the game of golf.
The four-time All-American athlete from the University of Georgia turned professional in September of 2011 following his triumph at the 2011 Nationwide Children’s Hospital Invitational and becoming one of only three amateurs to win the event.
The brand is thrilled to work alongside such a gifted young golfer. Harris is bound to achieve greatness and his spot in OMEGA’s ambassador family is well-deserved.
