PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Mike Malaska, the 2011 PGA of America Teacher of the Year, Worldwide Director of Jack Nicklaus Golf Academies and PGA Director of Instruction for Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club in the Phoenix metropolitan area, is the featured instructor for the Instructional Workshop at PGA Expo Demo Night, sponsored by Orange Whip Trainer, on Monday, Aug. 19, 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Callaway Golf Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Malaska will present “Understanding and Developing Your Student’s Athletic Personality” to fellow PGA Professional instructors that will include checkpoints for evaluating the player physically and uniquely developing their game skills. Malaska also will address the effective use of the latest technologies while avoiding confusing or misleading data relative to the capabilities of students. The workshop is presented under the umbrella of the industry-wide Golf 2.0 initiative and includes specialized instruction for women and junior players. PGA Professionals will receive 2 MSR Education credits for their participation in the instructional workshop.
The instructional workshop is part of the PGA Expo Education Conference offered in conjunction with the 2013 PGA Expo at the Venetian Resort and Callaway Golf Center in Las Vegas. Educational programming complements a full schedule of exhibits, main stage presentations, demonstrations, product testing and professional networking events at the annual industry business gathering. PGA members may earn up to 20 MSR credits through their participation in PGA Expo events and programs.

The annual PGA Expo Demo Night begins immediately following the workshop at the Callaway Golf Center where PGA Professionals and golf buyers will be able to field test the latest equipment, training aids and accessories first hand from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Leading equipment companies such as Callaway Golf, Cobra Puma Golf, Ernest Sports, Flightscope, Foresight Sports, Nike Golf, PING, and Tour Edge Golf will demonstrate their newest equipment at the Center’s two-tiered 113-stall lighted driving range, plus the putting and chipping greens. CHAMP is the official tee sponsor of the PGA Expo Demo Night. PGA Professionals will receive 3 MSR credits for attending Demo Night.
About Instructor Mike Malaska, PGA
Mike Malaska bases his golf instruction on his expertise in swing mechanics with physical fitness programs to provide students with every advantage on the course. His in-depth understanding of the physical aspects of the body and the golf swing has led to an unsurpassed level of success where athletes improve swing mechanics and sequencing of the body by stretching, strengthening and conditioning programs backed by cutting-edge analytics and technologies.
A graduate of Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, he was a college “All American” in 1974 and was inducted into the University’s “Athletic Hall of Fame” in February 1999. Malaska competed in a number of PGA and Champions Tour events, including the 1988, 2009, and 2010 PGA Championships, and the 1982 and 1986 U.S. Opens.
Recognized as the Utah Section PGA Teacher of the Year (1996), the Southwest Section PGA Teacher of the Year (2010) and the national PGA Teacher of the Year (2011), Malaska has shared his expertise as a guest lecturer at the PGA Teaching and Coaching Summit, multiple national corporate functions and as a guest instructor for Golf Channel. Malaska’s instruction expertise has been featured in numerous publications including Golf Magazine, Golf Digest and PGA Magazine. In 2004, Malaska produced his own instructional DVD, “You Are Your Own Swing,” featuring 2½ hours of both golf and fitness instruction. In the spring of 2013, Malaska authored and released his first instruction book, “I Feel Your Pain,” to rave reviews. Malaska will host a book signing at Callaway Golf Center following his workshop during PGA Expo Demo Night.
His career has spanned more than 38 years of instruction and playing experience working alongside Jim Flick with the Nicklaus/Flick Golf Schools from 1991 through 2002 and served as director of instruction for the Jack Nicklaus Golf Center in Japan (1992-1995). He has served as a consultant to TaylorMade-adidas Golf Worldwide since 2002. His students have included multiple PGA and LPGA Tour players, as well as celebrities and prominent political figures throughout the world. Malaska is currently the Worldwide Instruction Director of Jack Nicklaus Golf Academies and the PGA Director of Instruction for Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club in the Phoenix metropolitan area.
