El Paso, Texas, June 26, 2013 – Butterfield Trail Golf Club announced today that it has been ranked as the No. 3 Best Municipal Course by Golfweek Magazine, just behind the prestigious Chambers Bay at No. 2, site of the 2015 U.S. Open Championship. The ranking comes right before the Tom Fazio-designed golf course celebrates its six year anniversary.
After opening in June, 2007, Butterfield Trail Golf Club quickly became a premium golf destination in the Southwest. The golf course is designed at a par 72, 7,307 yard layout from the championship tees. The property exceeds over 175 acres including natural areas, featuring over 55 feet of elevation changes. Butterfield Trail is the only public premium Tom Fazio-designed course in Texas.
“We are honored to, once again, be in Golfweek’s 2013 Top 50 Best Municipal Courses. To be ranked No. 3 on such a prominent list, truly reflects the dedication and support of the staff who manage the day-to-day operations at Butterfield Trail Golf Club. El Paso is proud to be home to one of the best golf courses in the nation,” said Monica Lombraña, Director of Aviation for El Paso International Airport.
“I am excited for the recognition this distinction from Golfweek brings to our staff and owners of Butterfield Trail Golf Club. I am equally pleased the golf experience our entire team delivers here in El Paso is garnering the national attention they deserve.” said Val D’Souza, General Manager at Butterfield Trail Golf Club.
