PHILADELPHIA — (July 1, 2013) – When it was first announced that four golf courses would be built, by four of the world’s most renowned golf course architects, on the same site … the experts of the golf world were amazed.
When the four courses opened on the same day in 2000, the golf world was really amazed.
Now, in another ambitious undertaking, the Traveling Golfer will attempt to review all four courses in one show – the show that debuts on July 1. Show host Tony Leodora, a veteran of the Myrtle Beach area, takes an expert-eye view around the four courses at Barefoot – designed by Tom Fazio, Davis Love III, Greg Norman and Pete Dye. Then he also displays some expertise in the kitchen when he tours the fabulous Greg Norman’s Australian Grill, on the Intracoastal Waterway, next to Barefoot Resort.
“I have been coming to Myrtle Beach three, four, five times a year for the last 25 years,” explains Leodora. “I’ve been talking about it and writing about it for years. To finally be able to show hundreds of thousands of viewers one of the premier properties in Myrtle Beach’s entire 60-Mile Grand Strand is very exciting.”
The four courses at Barefoot Resort portray four completely different styles of architecture, thus making any visit to the resort unique. With accommodations and great dining right on site, it makes Barefoot one of the best fully contained resorts in America.
Speaking of dining, a special section of the show, titled “After the Round” brings viewers inside Greg Norman’s Australian Grill. All the way inside. A special segment takes place in the kitchen, where Leodora joins the chef to prepare a signature ahi tuna dish.
“Shooting the show was fun,” says Barefoot Resort general manager Dave Genevro. “It was a light-hearted approach to golf and everything else that goes with it. That style fits Barefoot. We host the Hootie and the Blowfish Monday after the Masters Celebrity Tournament and that event is all about fun also.”
The Traveling Golfer series of video features from golf destinations around the world will make Barefoot Resort its sixth episode of travel and lifestyles shows – its first from Myrtle Beach. The episode begins July 1 and runs throughout the month on The Traveling Golfer Network (see list of sites on www.travelinggolfervideo.com). It also will air on Monday, July 8 as part of the Press Box show in Myrtle Beach, 5 to 7 p.m. on HTC Ch. 4.
Responding to golfers’ never-ending demands to learn more about interesting golf courses and golf resorts across the country and around the world, well-traveled host Tony Leodora created the show so he could take viewers on video golf trips to some of the most exciting golf locations.
The Traveling Golfer appears as a series of monthly shows hosted by Leodora, who has 13 years experience in televised golf shows. The featured destination stays on the website for one month, before being replaced by a new show. The old shows are archived on the home website, www.travelinggolfervideo.com.
A network of golf websites, of all sizes, has been created to host the new golf show. The show will have its own website — www.travelinggolfervideo.com. The network of additional websites includes www.golftalklive.net, the website of the award-winning GolfTalk Live radio show that also is hosted by Leodora. Some of the other early sites to agree to host the Traveling Golfer are www.myphillygolf.com, www.sportsnetwork.com, www.louguzzi.com, www.yetigolf.net, www.golfbuckscounty.com, www.phillygolffiles.com, www.playaroundgolf.com, www.awaywegogolf.com, www.sheppardgolf.com and www.golfxpress72.com.
“Those are just the first wave of websites that have agreed to host our show,” explains Leodora. “We are acquiring others quickly, at the same time that we expand our network to shows on traditional television.”
