Primary Beneficiary is “Golf In Schools” Program that Impacts More than 110,000 Boys & Girls at 200+ Schools in New Jersey; Limited Space Still Available for Event that also Supports New Jersey Golf Foundation Scholarships & Special Olympics
PISCATAWAY, N.J., July 1, 2013…The New Jersey Golf Foundation (NJGF), the charitable arm of the New Jersey Section, PGA of America (NJPGA), will be presenting the 2013 Chairman’s Award to Dean T. Criares, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Drew University and a partner at Sound Harbor Partners, an investment firm providing private credit to U.S. companies. The Chairman’s Award, which is presented annually to an individual who works tirelessly behind the scenes to support the NJGF’s programs and initiatives, will be presented at the 7th Annual NJGF Golf Classic, Monday, August 5, 2013, at the Baltusrol Golf Club.
The NJGF was created to positively impact lives and communities through the game of golf, and the Annual Golf Classic is the signature event on the NJGF calendar, as more than $175,000 was raised in 2012 to support a breadth of player development programs. The NJGF offers dynamic programs where individuals from all backgrounds, including youth, special needs, military and women, can experience the game of golf in a welcoming environment, highlighted by “Golf In Schools,” Boys & Girls Clubs of America and YMCA programs. The primary beneficiary of the August 5 event is “Golf In Schools,” an initiative that introduces the game of golf to children by incorporating the sport into the physical education curriculum at elementary and middle schools, under the guidance of PGA Professionals. Backed by the generous contributions from NJGF supporters, an astounding 110,000 children (K-8th grade) at more than 200 schools participate in the program, which continues to grow every year throughout New Jersey.
“The NJGF Golf Classic is a wonderful event and we encourage friends, colleagues and corporations who are looking to support youth golf programming to join us for an amazing day at one of the truly special golf venues in the country,” said Gregg Angelillo, President, NJGF. “Contributions from our supporters make a vital difference, as we continue to enhance our programming, providing opportunities for boys and girls from all backgrounds to experience the joys of playing golf.”
