Oakville, Ont. (Golf Canada) – Golf Canada and Golf GameBook have partnered to organize one of the biggest golf contests ever for all Canadian golfers – The Road to the RBC Canadian Open. This is made possible using the Golf GameBook app and online service for golf scoring where all rounds count toward winning a once-in-lifetime VIP experience at The RBC Canadian Open.
Golf GameBook is a new, easy-to-use live scoring app with a social twist that makes golf more fun for everyone. Golfers can use the app as a mobile scorecard and to connect with each other to share golf experiences on and off the golf course. Free to download, Golf GameBook offers both an iPhone and Android version. Via its mobile live scoring function, golfers can now keep score in multiple groups and track leaderboards hole-by-hole.
One of GameBook’s advantages is the most sophisticated score entry compared to any other scoring app on the market. All the popular game formats are included in GameBook, and you can share your scores on social media whenever you want. In-app chat-style commenting option, similar to Facebook, allows you to interact with friends while you stroll the fairways. GameBook has recently released an online service where all games and especially larger tournaments can be set online connecting to the app for live scoring. All this is free for any golfer, golf club or tournament organizer to use.
Golf Canada together with GameBook is now organizing a 4-week long golf contest where all Canadians are welcome to join. All that golfers have to do is record their scores with the Golf GameBook app or enter a scorecard directly at the GameBook website www.golfgamebook.com.
NHL-veteran Teemu Selanne and PGA TOUR player Stewart Cink have both been involved with Golf GameBook app since its start. They believe its potential to make golf more fun for average golf player. The app is a cool social media tool that lets Canadian golfers share their on-course experiences, as well as follow their friends’ play form their mobile phone or online.
A contest designed for Canadian golfers:
The Road to the RBC Canadian Open offers one lucky winner the golf prize of a lifetime – a VIP experience for two at the RBC Canadian Open with a behind the scenes tour and picture with the champion. Attractive bi-weekly prizes provided by Golf Canada can also be won. The rules are simple: register within GameBook either using the app or online service and enter your golf score. Every 18-hole round counts and the more golfers play, the better their chance to win. The Road to the RBC Canadian Open began on Monday June 17th and runs through July 14th, 2013.
“We wanted to offer something new and interesting to engage Canadian golfers around the RBC Canadian Open and when we explored Golf GameBook and its capability to organize this kind of a national contest, the choice was easy,” said Golf Canada CEO Scott Simmons. “Technology is playing a bigger role in various aspects of the game, and thanks to smartphones, more and more mobile apps are being developed for the benefit of golfers. Working with GameBook provides an exciting digital platform to connect the Canadian golf community to the RBC Canadian Open.”
“Golf GameBook makes golf more exciting and fun for golfers at all level” said Mikko Rantanen, CEO of GameBook Inc. “Participants in golf events can follow and track scores live directly from their smartphones or online, just as well as their friends and colleagues around the world can do the same. We’re very excited about our cooperation with Golf Canada and can promise, this is something new that Canadian golfers have never experienced before.”
