MEMPHIS, Tenn. (July 15, 2013) – The winner of the 2013 John Deere Classic trusted his short game to Project X for his first PGA TOUR victory. On Sunday, he became the youngest winner on the TOUR in 82 years and the 4th youngest winner in TOUR history.
The champion started Sunday six shots behind the lead, but quickly moved up the leader board with Project X. He fought off fierce competition in a five-hole playoff to emerge the victor with a 6-under 65 in the final round. The win not only made history, but also ensured he has a spot to play in this week’s Open Championship.
“It was pretty incredible to see this young player fight it out on those final five holes for his first TOUR victory and a place in history,” said Chad Hall, director of product marketing and global tour operations for True Temper Sports. “In fact, Project X not only played a hand in history making on the PGA TOUR this weekend, but the Web.com tour as well. The third place finisher at the Utah Classic shot a record-breaking final 59 with Project X Graphite Tour Issue in his driver. Both of these awe-inspiring feats prove once again why the best players in the world turn to Project X time and again.”
In addition to the win at the John Deere Classic, all of the Top 10 finishers at the event had shafts by True Temper in the bag.
