(VIENNA, VA) – Forest Greens Golf Club (Triangle, VA) – located 30 minutes south of Washington, DC and managed by Billy Casper Golf – has launched the 99 Hole Club Challenge, a program promoting health and wellness through golf.
Through the end of August, golfers join the club for $15 and pledge to walk 99 holes. Participants receive a t-shirt after four rounds, earlier access to “Kids Play Free,” 25 percent off junior golf fees, 50 percent off range balls and $25 off junior golf camps.
According to National Golf Foundation, the link between golf and health is evident: walking 18 holes equals a five-mile walk or 3.5- to four-mile run; playing golf and walking 18 holes can burn up to 2,000 calories; golfers exceed 10,000 steps during a typical round, meeting the guideline for daily exercise.
“Emphasizing golf as a key element of health and wellness helps drive beginner participation and increased loyalty of regular golfers,” says Tom Coffman, General Manager of Forest Greens. “We’re excited to bring this innovative program to Forest Greens.”
Opened in 1996, Forest Greens Golf Club is a true back-to-nature oasis amid the bustle of Northern Virginia. The 18-hole, par 72 course was designed by renowned architect Clyde Johnston.
Awarded four stars (of five) from Golf Digest, Forest Greens features pine tree-lined fairways, well-protected greens and gently rolling terrain. An intriguing layout with few blind shots, generous landing areas and elevated tees blends bark and bite for all handicaps. The comprehensive practice facility includes an all-grass driving range, a putting and chipping green and PGA instruction.
The clubhouse contains a pro shop with a complete selection of golf apparel and equipment. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, the restaurant is perfect for post-round relaxation and regularly hosts corporate outings and other social engagements.
