Proceeds from Competition August 2-4 to Benefit American Cancer Society
Mount Pleasant, S.C. (July 24, 2013) – Patriots Point Links and the City of Mount Pleasant are partnering to host the inaugural Mount Pleasant Open, a three-day charity golf tournament open to the public, with proceeds going to support the American Cancer Society.
The tournament will be held Friday, August 2 through Sunday, August 4, and is open to both golf professionals and amateurs.
“The 2013 Mount Pleasant Open will be the beginning of a tradition that will showcase the best golf in the Lowcountry, while supporting those who have persevered through the struggles of cancer,” said Patriots Point Links General Manager Brad Parker. “It is the strength of these individuals that make us proud to support them through golf.”
The Mount Pleasant Open is a 54-hole, stroke play event with two divisions:
Championship Division
Open to PGA Professionals, apprentices and amateurs 17 years of age and older. The Championship Division is a gross-only format and will play from the tournament tees.
Open Division
Open to amateurs only 17 years of age and older. The Open Division will be flighted after the 36 hole total score.
“We think the contestants will have a memorable weekend in the Low Country,” added Parker. “The course is in great shape and offers a unique golf experience as you weave your way around waterways, finishing the round on the Charleston Harbor with views of downtown Charleston and Fort Sumter.”
The entry fee for the Mt. Pleasant Open is $195 and includes green fees, cart, range use, awards and a tee gift. The entry form is available online at www.patriotspointlinks.com. Entry deadline is Wednesday, July 31. For further information, call the golf shop at 843-881-0042.
