Los Angeles, Calif. – The links are about to get even more vibrant, as colourful golf glove maker G/FORE announced it has signed an agreement with five-time British Open Champion, Tom Watson.
One of Golf Digest’s top 10 golfers of all time, Watson has won eight major championships. Named PGA Player of the Year six times – second only to Tiger Woods – he has played on four Ryder Cup teams, captained the victorious 1993 squad, and will lead the U.S. delegation to Scotland in 2014. The Stanford grad competes on both the PGA Tour and Champions Tour, and has amassed some 70 professional wins in his storied career.
Whether holing-out to win the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach or battling Jack Nicklaus head-to-head at Turnberry, Watson has always looked cool on the course. One of the first pros to wear a coloured glove in competition, he’s a player who combines the best of personal style and a champion’s confidence with the latest technology.
“Working with Tom is a dream come true,” says G/FORE founder-designer Mossimo Giannulli. “He’s our first major champion – and a multi-time winner at that! It’s exciting to see G/FORE paired with such an impeccable tradition of major style and success.”
“Color is the new ‘seen’ on Tour, white is passé,” says Tom Watson. “G/FORE fits my style and the excellent quality and consistency of fit completes the package. Think outside the box and have fun with the game — and your glove. What are you going to wear?”
Since debuting its colourful line at the 2011 PGA Merchandise Show, G/FORE has become the worldwide brand of choice for a wide range of stylish golfers – from golf professionals like Englishman Robert Rock, fellow American Ricky Barnes, Czechoslovakian Alex Cejka and Japan’s Shingo Katayama to weekend warriors and clubhouse regulars alike.
G/FORE
G/FORE is a privately held, California-based golf glove, shoe and accessories brand under designer-founder – and avid golfer – Mossimo Giannulli’s Dirty Bird Productions (DBP) management group. Giannulli founded the billion-dollar clothing company Mossimo Inc. in 1987 and brokered a first-ever designer-exclusive distribution deal with Target in 2000. Rooted in the style established by golf’s Scottish forebears – dandified knickers, tartan sweaters and argyle vests – G/FORE promotes a simple evolution: colour. Visit www.gfore.com for more.
