CARLSBAD, Calif. (July 29, 2013) – Hall of Fame member Karrie Webb used Nippon Shaft products in both her woods and irons en route to her come-from-behind victory at the ISPS HANDA Ladies European Masters on Sunday (July 28).

The 38-year-old native Australian shot a final round 65 at Buckinghamshire Golf Club in Denton, England to overcome a three-shot deficit to win by one stroke.

A longtime supporter and player of Nippon Shaft products, Webb used Nippon Shaft N.S. Pro Regio prototype graphite shafts in her driver and fairway woods. In her irons she used N.S. PRO 1050GH steel shafts. Webb shot a 16-under par 54-hole total of 68-67-65-200.

“Nippon Shaft is extremely pleased and excited that Hall of Fame member Karrie Webb used Nippon Shaft products in both her woods and irons in winning the ISPS HANDA Ladies European Masters,” said Hiro Fukuda, head of sales and marketing for the Japan-based company. “Karrie has played Nippon Shaft for many years we could not be prouder that such a fine player has confidence in our products.”

The victory was Webb’s 54th worldwide, including two wins earlier this year at the Australian Ladies Masters and the ShopRite LPGA Classic.

Over the course a professional career that began in 1996, Webb has amassed nearly $20 million in official earnings.

In 2012, Nippon Shaft recorded more than 50 victories on professional golf tours worldwide, as the best players in the world increasingly chose to install in their irons steel shafts manufactured in Japan to unparalleled quality standards.

Nippon Shaft products are available either as stock or custom shafts in many of the world’s top iron brands.

In addition, Nippon Shaft products are available through Shaftology – Nippon Shaft’s dedicated clubfitter network – and through the custom club departments of top club manufacturers.

Nippon Shaft manufactures all of its steel and graphite shafts in a state-of-the-art factory in Komagane, Japan. The company’s integrated production lines are strictly monitored and controlled with thorough checks conducted responsibly through the entire production process, Fukuda said. As a result, Nippon Shaft is able to control high product quality – from material selection to final testing.

Nippon Shaft has more than 100 professional victories worldwide. Based in Yokohama, Japan, Nippon Shaft is the No. 1-selling steel shaft in Asia.

Nippon Shaft is a privately-held subsidiary of NHK Spring Co. LTD, a Japanese automobile parts manufacturer. Nippon Shaft’s North American headquarters is in Carlsbad.
