Championship format will be a 64-player match play with a minimum $50,000 first place prize
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (August 1, 2013) – The All-American Gateway Tour (AAGT) announced today a series ending championship to their Fall, Winter, and Spring Series which will give players the opportunity to play for a minimum $50,000 first place prize. Second place in the tournament will garner $10,000 with third and fourth place taking home $5,000 and $2,500 respectively.
The tournament format will be a 64-player match play and will be held at the end of the three series in April or May 2014. The entry fee is set at $500 but players can earn a spot in the tournament at no cost.
“The 64-player match play championship is a perfect way to close out our Fall, Winter, and Spring Series that we are kicking membership off for on August 1,” said Holly Dean, Director of Marketing and Communications for AAGT. “We have already announced a lot of exciting things for the upcoming series including a 100% purse payback program, a cumulative “Points Race” for a Web.com Tour exemption in each series, and sponsorship events that award free entry into tournaments. The addition of the series championship is one more element that proves our commitment to being the premier developmental golf tour.”
Players can qualify for the series championship by being in the top 32 on the official money list (1-20 will earn their spot in the championship with no entry fee and 21-32 will be subject to the $500 paid entry fee).
And, as a way to give everyone a chance at the championship, players will also qualify by being in the top 22 in AAGT’s soon to be announced Loyalty Points Race (1-12 with no entry fee and 13-22 with the paid entry fee).
The last 10 spots in the championship will be awarded through a qualifier event at a cost of $150 for AAGT members (which will ultimately be applied towards the series championship entry fee) or $300 for non-members (does not apply towards the entry fee).
“The best part about the series ending championship is the fact that the first place prize is set at a minimum of $50,000 said Dean. “To ensure our players have the opportunity to play for as much money as possible, we will be adding money to the purse every time we sign on a new sponsor.”
AAGT’s commitment to add money to the series championship every time they secure a new sponsor is an example of the tour’s dedication to improving the developmental golf system. “We do not believe that the only real source of revenue for a tour is through the members,” said Dean. “Finding and developing ancillary forms of revenue for the tour is important to us, which is why we have expanded our sponsorship offerings so we could provide value to our sponsors beyond promoting them at our tournaments and on our website. Our sponsorship options now include a full range of marketing services including call center, production, business consulting, promotional golf events, pro clinics and more. As sponsors see the value in what we have to offer and sign on with the tour, we will pass on the advantages of our partnerships to our members. The first way we are going to do that is by adding money to the series ending championship.
As a reminder, AAGT’s risk free membership sale opens on August 1, 2013. Players will be able to register for free, but will not be charged until a minimum of 100 members have joined. The first 100 members will also receive a discounted annual membership rate of $1,250 and will be automatically entered into a drawing for one of three free memberships. In addition, for every member past 100, $500 will be directed to the tournament purses, ensuring $50,000 will be added to the tournament purses if the tour achieves 200 members. AAGT is also implementing a 100% purse payback program, where all the dollars related to the qualifiers, minus any course costs, go back into the purses as well.
Additional partnerships with potential sponsors are in the works and will be announced soon. To learn more about AAGT and the details of their upcoming Fall, Winter and Spring Series, please visit www.aagtgolf.com.
