Press and media gathered at Reunion Resort for the special announcement. The North Florida PGA is proud to announce a joint venture with The Golf Association of Florida! The relationship will offer NFPGA Members, facilities and amateurs a variety of benefits and playing opportunities. It will be an exciting new era for North Florida golfers that will provide them with the latest technology for handicapping services along with exceptional value. There will also be new playing opportunities for amateurs throughout the Section at the best venues.
This relationship is designed to provide both entities with considerable contributions to their Foundations and designated charities while growing the game of golf throughout North Florida; “The Golf Capital of the World.”
PGA Members will benefit with a cost-effective solution for tournament management tools along with providing their members and customers with state of the art handicapping services. Simply providing a great product at a great price.
Junior golfers throughout North Florida will have access to quality junior events and championships at some of the best courses in the state. Amateurs will also have access to competitive events at quality venues with affordable entry fees. Professionals will have the ability to entertain their members and guests at Pro Ams administered by both organizations. An expanded tournament schedule and venues will provide the playing opportunities that will benefit host facilities along with satisfying the competitive desires of North Florida golfers.

ABOUT THE NORTH FLORIDA PGA
The North Florida PGA (NFPGA) is a group of approximately 1,500 PGA Members and Apprentices, serving the needs of the golfers of North Florida. It is a not-for-profit service organization founded in 1979 and one of the 41 Sections that make up the PGA of America. ABOUT THE GOLF ASSOCIATION OF FLORIDA
The Golf Association of Florida was established in 1997 as a statewide golf association, and was subsequently licensed by the United States Golf Association. The GAF is a non-profit 501 C-3 Corporation.
The Golf Association of Florida, (GAF) will serve its members professionally and effectively, in a manner appropriate to improving the environment for the game of golf in Florida. It will carry out the traditional functions of an authorized state golf association, (ie; course rating, handicapping, rules interpretation etc.,) and in addition will work to improve the popularity and interest in the game, resulting in more rounds of golf played at member facilities in Florida
Anyone affiliated with Florida golf as a golfer, club member, course operator, or by involvement in a golf-related activity. The GAF provides avenues of input from, and representation to, all groups. Memberships are in three classes: Individuals, Golf Clubs, and Industry Associates.
o Promotion of competitive amateur golf and the encouragement of more participants.
o Advance uniform rules and standards of the United States Golf Association, especially with regard to the handicap system, rules of golf, and course rating procedure.
o Provide specific services for our member clubs and the golfing public, creating or using technology that will enable them to be more efficient as well as better informed about events and facilities both local and statewide.
o Conduct or sanction a year-round series of competitive events, in all parts of the state, accommodating all levels of amateur golfers.
o Provide a liaison between members, other state golf associations, appropriate state and national organizations, particularly the USGA.
o Serve as a clearinghouse, and source of information for its members and others.
o Enhance the awareness of golf in civic affairs, and to provide information on the game’s activities to appropriate bodies.
