LPGA Hall of Famers, Alice Dye event, Healthy Kids Pavilion, and well-being tours highlight a week of promoting healthy lifestyles
French Lick, IN – Tickets and packages for the Legends Championship Presented by Humana at French Lick Resort are now available for purchase online through the resorts website www.frenchlick.com, at www.ticketmaster.com, and beginning Sept. 1 Half Price Tickets at all Walgreens locations.
In just a few months, The Legends Tour with its field of LPGA Hall of Fame players will bring a weeklong celebration of women’s golf benefiting the American Heart Association to southern Indiana September 23-29.
The event will feature 66 LPGA legends including 10 Hall of Fame players and seven Solheim Cup Captains. Early field commitments include LPGA Hall of Famers Nancy Lopez, JoAnne Carner and Pat Bradley; well-known British golfer Laura Davies, who has 82 professional tournament wins worldwide; and 2011 Solheim Cup Captain Rosie Jones who has 13 LPGA Tour wins.
The players will compete in a 54-hole event for the largest purse on the Legends Tour at $500,000, with the winner earning $75,000. There will also be a 36-hole “Super Legends” event on Saturday and Sunday featuring Hall of Famers Sandra Haynie and Donna Caponi, 27-time LPGA Tour champion Jane Blalock and Sandra Palmer, who won 19 times on the LPGA Tour. Affordable tickets and packages
Daily tickets for the event can be purchased for an affordable rate of $10 per day, or $25 for a weekly pass and children 18 and under get in free. For people who want to experience French Lick Resort and the Legends Championship, VIP and lodging packages are also available starting at $250.
A variety of onsite activities
The Legends Championship will include a pro-am event, Alice Dye Women’s Invitational, daily artisan programs through the local CVB, and other community outreach programs supporting healthy lifestyles impacting thousands of adults and children who are expected to attend throughout the week.
The Legends Championship presented by Humana will also enrich the lives of youth throughout Indiana and surrounding states. With the support of area First Tee programs, Indiana Golf House, Indiana PGA, Kentucky PGA, regional junior golf programs, as well as area schools, children of all ages will have the opportunity to come out to see some of the greatest LPGA players and learn how the game of golf can be beneficial to an overall healthy lifestyle.
Children and their parents will love the Healthy Kids Pavilion presented by Humana, which will promotes a variety of healthy activities including interactive games, Wii Fit, mini golf, caddie demonstrations, and the popular blender bikes, where kids create delicious, healthy smoothies using pedal power. Parents will be able to enjoy the Humana Well-Being Tour, a mobile wellness initiative that promoting active, healthy lifestyles.

The history of women’s golf at French Lick dates back to 1957, where Louise Suggs captured the French Lick Women’s Open on the historic Donald Ross course. A few years later the LPGA Championship was also brought to the historic site. In 1959, Betsy Rawls won the LPGA major followed by the legendary Mickey Wright winning the title in 1960, also held on the Ross course. In 2013, the history will continue not only with the elite and historic competition, but also with the creation of a new LPGA Legends Hall of Fame.
