Sanford, FL – Steven Fox, the reigning U.S. Amateur Champion, continued his winning ways by capturing victory at the 98th Tennessee State Amateur Championship held at the Chattanooga Golf and Country Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Fox’s 10-under-par total of 270, which included rounds of 68-67-68-67, gave him a five-stroke victory over his closest competitors: two-time state amateur champion Tim Jackson and Keith Mitchell. Those two tied for second with a 5-under total of 275.
Fox and his RIFE 2-Bar putter are currently in Brookline, Mass. defending his U.S. Amateur title. “This past year has been crazy,” said Fox, “it has taught me perseverance and I wouldn’t change a thing.”
Following his defense of the U.S. Amateur title, Fox said he plans to turn professional.
About RIFE Golf
RIFE Golf is the true innovator behind horizontal grooved face putter technology with a patent on specifically sized grooves since 1997. These precisely spaced grooves allow the putter to gently press into the cover of the ball and grip and lift it into an instant forward roll. RIFE states, “just as grooves in irons help control spin so do grooves in a putter face.” Other companies are now trying to imitate this patented technology but the spacing of the grooves is the true key to the gripping and lifting effect of grooved face putter technology. Horizontal RollGrooveTM faced putters create the truest “no skid” roll in golf no matter where you hit the ball on the putter face.
