After shooting a course record 7-under-par 63 in Friday’s second round, Jason Dufner came out on top to win the 95th PGA Championship, his first major championship victory. Dufner, a 3-time PGA Tour winner, calmly rolled in putt-after-putt using his SuperStroke Slim 3.0.
“To win here at Oak Hill Country Club, PGA Championship, it’s great,” Dufner said. “You know, puts me in a great position for the Playoffs coming up in a couple weeks.”
With this victory, Jason moved from 62nd to 14th in the FedEx Cup standings and inside the top-10 in President Cup points, almost assuring himself a spot on the 12-man roster. The President Cup rankings deadline is 3 weeks away. The top-10 in the standings receive automatic bids with two captain’s picks being selected a few days after.
The runner-up in Rochester also used a SuperStroke putter grip, the Mid Slim 2.0. This player switched to SuperStroke technology this week, finishing the tournament at 8-under par. This second place finish is his best so far in 2013.
Quick Stat: Dufner’s 10-under 270 was four shots better than the lowest score at Oak Hill in the past 5 majors held there.
