BELLINGHAM, Washington – An industry leader in innovative composite shaft technology, Aerotech Golf announces that 2012 RE/MAX World Long Drive Super Senior champion Eric Jones of Pleasanton, Calif., qualified for the 2013 RE/MAX World Long Championship using a super-light, low-torque Claymore graphite shaft. At almost 55 years of age, Jones was the oldest contestant to qualify in this year’s Senior Division (over 45) and will now compete for both Senior and Super Senior (over 50) Division titles later this year in Mesquite, Nev.
For his Senior Division qualifer, Jones slammed a 347-yard drive into a gusty head wind, using a driver that featured an Aerotech Claymore MX60 (F5 flex) graphite shaft and Geek No Brainer head. The driver was built by professional clubfitter John Greenwood of Dublin, Calif. Last year, Jones won the Super Senior Division title at the 2012 RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship with a Claymore-shafted driver. He previously won the 2003 RE/MAX World Long Drive Senior Champion title and LDA Long Drive Tour Senior Rookie of the Year for 2004.

The long drive model (Claymore LD) is available in three flexes LD400 (4X flex), LD300 (3X flex) and LD200 (2X flex). MSRP $199. Aerotech has also introduced two non-long drive specific Claymore models – MX48 and MX60 – with five flex levels (F1-F5) each. The MX48 weights are 47 grams (F1 flex) through 50 grams (F5 flex), while the slightly heavier MX60 model weighs in at 57 grams (F1) to 60 grams (F5). MSRP $99. The fact that Eric Jones won the World Long Drive Super Senior division title using the MX60, and not the Claymore LD, is a real testament to this shaft’s stability.
