(HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C.) – The International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) – one of the leading competitive circuits for elite golfers grades 5-12 – announces the fall 2013 schedule for the “Discovery Tour.”
Designed for ages eight to 12, the Discovery Tour is held in conjunction with IJGT events. This arrangement makes it convenient for families with golfers on both tours. Each course on the Discovery Tour averages 2,200 – 2,500 yards.
Schedule of events below:
• Sept. 7 at Hilton Head National Golf Club (Bluffton, S.C.)
• Oct. 12 at Blue Heron Pines (Cologne, N.J.)
• Oct. 26 at Hershey Links Golf Club (Hummelstown, Pa.)
• Nov. 2 at Palmetto Hall Plantation (Hilton Head Island, S.C.)
“The Discovery Tour provides exceptional playing opportunities for younger golfers,” says Kyle Wolfe, IJGT Tour Director. “It’s a unique entry point for passionate juniors to gain experience in a low pressure, enjoyable competition.”
Participants are encouraged to use a caddy during each round. Caddies can carry a participant’s bag, assist with rules and offer advice. There is a 10-stroke limit for each hole. Rulings resulting in disqualification on other tours are only enforced with stroke penalties.
At the end of the 2013-2014 Discovery Tour season, the junior golfer with the most points in each division will receive a free week of summer golf camp at the Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy on Hilton Head Island, S.C.
