MYRTLE BEACH, SC (August 23, 2013) – For the 6th year in a row the award winning GolfTalk Live radio show has moved south to provide full coverage of the Golf.com World Amateur Handicap Championship. This is the 30th anniversary of the world’s largest golf tournament and it promises to be the most exciting in tournament history.
“A lot of work has gone into this year’s tournament and the players have responded with a large increase over last year,” said Jeff Monday of Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday and the Tournament Chairman. “There is a lot of excitement in the air.”
It all begins with the Saturday, August 24 GolfTalk Live show which brings highlights from the huge party that kicked off the Know Your Score Celebrity Tournament and Gala for ZERO – The End of Prostate Cancer. Coverage of the party comes from the Marina Inn at Grande Dunes Resort and features special guest, basketball Hall of Famer Julius “Dr. J” Erving.
Beginning Monday, August 26, GolfTalk Live host Tony Leodora will be competing in the four-day event that decides Flight Winners from among the 3,400 competitors. All of the Flight Winners will compete in the final round on Friday from the Dye Course at Barefoot Resort.
After each day’s play, as he has in past years, Leodora will provide personal coverage of his round and other events from the tournament. His humorous first-person accounts have been a tournament highlight in past years. They can be read daily at www.golftalklive.net. Just hit the Blog button.
Throughout the week Leodora will compile interviews with tournament players as well as celebrity guests at the World’s Largest 19th Hole, in the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. On Friday he will have a one-on-one interview with the tournament winner.
“I regard this tournament as one of the highlights of my golf year,” reported Leodora. “The competition is great but meeting all of the players, reacquainting with old ones and interviewing the many celebrities who come to the beach for the week makes it something special. And this year, the 30th anniversary of this event, makes it even more special.”
