Award-winning course reopens after a three-month greens renovation and offers special package, membership opportunity
PALM COAST, Fla. – After three months of careful renovation, the Tom Watson Signature Design Conservatory Course at Hammock Beach Resort will re-open on August 30, 2013. The 7,776-yard layout, which has hosted a PGA TOUR event, has created one of the finest putting surfaces in the industry by transitioning the type of grass on its greens from TifEagle to Paspalum Platinum.
The Paspalum Platinum strain is a saltwater-tolerant grass being used more frequently in tropical environments, making it a perfect fit at the oceanfront Hammock Beach. The resort used a non-invasive, no-till planting method to cause minimal disruption to the underlying root structure.
“These greens are spectacular,” said Brad Hauer, director of golf at Hammock Beach Resort. “Our entire course now features Paspalum grass, which is renowned for its phenomenal playability.”
Located on 140 acres featuring dramatic elevation change and undulating greens not commonly found in Florida, The Conservatory is the Sunshine State’s longest course and features its highest slope rating (78.2). However, with 12 sets of combination tee boxes, golfers can play the course from any distance they choose.
To celebrate the course’s reopening, Hammock Beach Resort is offering a Conservatory Golf Package with rates starting as low as $125 per night, per person. Valid September 2-December 19, 2013, the special offer includes suite accommodations and one round of golf on The Conservatory Course. The offer is subject to availability, based on quadruple occupancy and additional restrictions may apply. To book The Conservatory Golf Package, call 888-976-4459 or visit www.hammockbeach.com.
For golf enthusiasts seeking long-term privileges to one of the top courses in the state of Florida, Hammock Beach is also making available a new Conservatory Golf Membership, which includes unlimited course play and use of the spectacular Conservatory Clubhouse and practice facilities. New members also enjoy access to Hammock’s Yacht Harbor Village tennis center and preferred dining pricing at Hammock Beach Resort restaurants. For more information, call the Membership Club Office at 866-841-0287 or email hbmembership@hammockbeach.com.
Hammock Beach Resort is also home to the award-winning Ocean Course, a Jack Nicklaus Signature Design. Featuring pristine wetlands and sparkling lakes, the course is highlighted by six holes that play directly along the Atlantic Ocean. The course concludes with a thrilling finale dubbed “The Bear Claw” – a collection of four daunting holes precariously edging the sweeping coastline.
Managed by Salamander Hotels & Resorts, Hammock Beach Resort is part of Salamander’s Golf Collection, which also features Innisbrook Resort in Tampa Bay and Reunion Resort in Orlando.
