Grand opening discount offer good through September
Centennial, Colo. (August 27, 2013) – GolfTEC, the world leader in golf improvement, has opened its newest improvement center located in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Open daily, the center is located at 9318 Gaither Road, Suite 225, easily accessible from the Shady Grove Road exits on both Interstate 270 and Interstate 370.
To celebrate its opening, GolfTEC Gaithersburg is offering a 50 percent discount on swing evaluations through the month of September. For more details, call the center at (240) 654-0796.
GolfTEC, which already has more than 180 improvement centers in North America, has given more than 4 million lessons since teeing off in 1995. Most lessons are taught one-on-one in private, indoor bays that maximize the learning experience. GolfTEC utilizes proprietary teaching technology and the skills of its Certified Personal Coaches to help golfers improve their skills and increase their enjoyment of the game.
The GolfTEC Gaithersburg center, which has opened with three hitting bays and Foresight launch monitors in all three bays, is under the direction of Mark Tanner, PGA, who is both center co-owner and a GolfTEC Certified Personal Coach.
The expansive Gaithersburg facility – the second GolfTEC Center in Montgomery County – includes a chipping area, as well as a large putting green that can handle 25-foot putts in 2,575 square feet. Also, two bays are specially equipped to accommodate left-handed golfers, including one instructional bay with a view of nearby Rio Lake.
“Local golfers now have access to high-tech lessons, custom club-fitting and distance testing, all with the best motion sensors, video cameras and launch monitor technology,” said Tanner, a local golfer who grew up in Laytonsville, and played on the golf team at Gaithersburg High. He went on to Mississippi State University, where he graduated from the Professional Golf Management Program in 2003. He then started as a PGA assistant professional at Laytonsville Golf Course and then moved on to the PGA Head Professional position at Little Bennett Golf Course, before joining GolfTEC in 2008.
Tanner is partnered with co-owners Paul and Rona Crombie, whose introduction to GolfTEC was as students in 2008. “After putting in long hours to complete my graduate degree at George Washington University,” Paul Crombie said, “I was able to pursue my love for golf.” The Crombies also are partners with Tanner in the GolfTEC Center in North Bethesda.
“We all work well as a team,” Paul Crombie said. “And we have a great product.”
GolfTEC’s proprietary g-SWING system combines digital video with motion measurement, capturing body positions at 24 different points throughout the swing. A simple RED-YELLOW-GREEN display guides instruction and reinforces swing changes.
But the lesson doesn’t end at the center’s doors. Using the personalized, online Player Performance Center, every student can review his lessons – including full video and the coach’s instructions – anytime and anywhere over the internet.
Tanner, who has given more than 6,000 lessons, initially will have one other Certified Coach on his Gaithersburg staff – Audra McShane, another Maryland golf product from Ellicott City. McShane, who joined GolfTEC this year, has an extensive competitive background. She played for High Point University, where she was team captain for the NCAA Division I team.
“Golfers love the GolfTEC product because it’s so easy to visualize and understand what needs to be improved,” Rona Crombie said. “We’re very excited about adding a woman coach. With her competitive background, she will help our clients see the benefits of sticking to an approach.”
