Chicago founder, Danny Seraphine, KISS’s Tommy Thayer among expected guests
LOS ANGELES (Aug. 26, 2013) – It has become the perfect meeting of driving guitar riffs, driving golf balls and the generosity driving celebrities and citizens alike to contribute their time and money to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Once again, renowned artist Scott Medlock and legendary DOORS guitarist Robby Krieger are teaming up to put those driving riffs and golf balls to a meaningful purpose — supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® with the Scott Medlock-Robby Krieger Celebrity Golf Invitational and Concert, Sept. 16 at Moorpark Country Club.
Golf begins at 11:30 a.m., followed by a 19th-Hole Reception presented by Ketel One Vodka and Mastro’s and featuring comedian Gary Mule Deer and rock comic Mark Eddie. The concert featuring Robby Krieger, Danny Seraphine, Tommy Thayer, Sebastian Bach, Jonny Lang and other musical guests begins at 7 p.m. on the Monster Energy Stage, located next to the Moorpark Country Club clubhouse. Also expected to attend is Val Kilmer, who portrayed the iconic Jim Morrison in Oliver Stone’s “The Doors”.
“We have been blessed to have so many incredible musical guests join us over the years, including Gene Simmons and Tommy Thayer of KISS, Lita Ford & Cherie Currie of the RUNAWAYS, Danny Seraphine of CHICAGO, Adrian Young of NO DOUBT, Rich Robinson of the BLACK CROWES, Brett Scallions of FUEL, Paul Barrere and Kenny Gradney of LITTLE FEAT, Jonny Lang, Phil Chen, David Brock, Ty Dennis, Nick Simmons and others,” Medlock said.
Once again, Medlock and Krieger will offer their patented “All-For-One” Hole-In-One Prizes. Four different Par 3 holes will feature (4) Mercedes-Benz automobiles, (4) Harley-Davidson motorcycles, (4) Chevrolet Camaro automobiles and (4) Rolex watches. Should one member of a foursome card that elusive ‘Ace’, all four will win that hole’s respective prize.
“St. Jude is one of our favorite charities and we are honored to help the kids who benefit from the first-class treatment the hospital provides,” said Medlock. “The fact that we’ve been able to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for such a worthy charity, says a great deal about our sponsors, donors, participants and volunteers.”
Krieger echoed his sentiment. “The work they do at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is some of the most important work anyone can do: helping children,” said Krieger. “Outside touring, this is something on my schedule that I look forward to the entire year because of what this means for so many people.”
What it means is a boost toward fighting cancer and other deadly diseases – causes that the doctors and researchers at St. Jude devote countless hours toward. It costs $1.7 million to operate the hospital every day and more than 75 percent of that funding comes from the public. Thanks to fundraising events like this one, no family ever pays St. Jude for anything.
The tournament returns to Moorpark Country Club, a 27-hole course co-designed by Peter Jacobsen, winner of seven PGA TOUR events and two Champions Tour major championships.

About St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
Since opening 50 years ago, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has changed the way the world treats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. No family ever pays St. Jude for the care their child receives and, for every child treated here, thousands more have been saved worldwide through St. Jude discoveries. The hospital has played a pivotal role in pushing U.S. pediatric cancer survival rates from 20 to 80 percent overall, and is the first and only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted solely to children. It is also a leader in the research and treatment of blood disorders and infectious diseases in children. St. Jude was founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas, who believed that no child should die in the dawn of life.
