The 2013 Asia Pacific Golf Summit (APGS) is at the cusp of rolling out its full programme for its latest international conference, the seventh in the series.
More than 30 world-class speakers and panelists have been confirmed for this year’s event which will be held at the plush five-star Shangri-la Hotel Jakarta in Indonesia on November 5 – 7.
“We expect to roll out the full programme in the first week of September and it already promises to be one of the best Summits to date,” declared Mike Sebastian, the chief executive officer of the Asia Pacific Golf Group, the owner and producer of APGS 2013.
The theme for this year’s Summit is “Club Management In The Asia Pacific – The Dawn Of A New Era”. This theme has been selected because it is perhaps the single most important aspect of the golf industry in the region. “It is vitally important that the management profession behind the club industry is brought into focus because without qualified and professional management in place, it is impossible to run clubs efficiently and profitably,” explained Sebastian.
The club industry is a very demanding industry and unless efforts are made to grow this sector of the industry, the region cannot really expect to grow golf.
One organization that will play a very important role in advancing the club management profession and industry in the region is the Club Managers Association of America. “The CMAA is a world class organization representing the club industry and together, we have established the Asia Pacific Chapter of the CMAA,” said Sebastian.
The main role of the Asia Pacific Chapter in the years to come will be to bring quality training, education and certification to professionals engaged in the club industry in the region. “This is long overdue and in the months ahead, the Asia Pacific Chapter will be organizing various training and education programmes aimed at various levels of management personnel,” Sebastian added.
The new wave for the club industry starts with the 2013 Asia Pacific Golf Summit. All golf club general managers and their heads of departments should make a serious effort to attend the Summit. It is a wonderful platform for cutting edge knowledge on trends and innovations in the club management industry.
