Pair of brand ambassadors take home titles
In what was one of the most successful weekends in the young company’s history, two of Chase54’s brand ambassadors picked up victories. Bronson La’Cassie rallied from a two-shot deficit with two holes to play before prevailing in a playoff to win the Cox Classic at Omaha, while Trent Scruggs became the youngest person ever to win the Mile High Shootout long drive competition.
“It was a remarkable weekend all the way around,” said Mike Hammontree, brand director of Chase54. “From Bronson rallying back down the stretch to get his first win on the Web.com Tour to Trent cranking out back-to-back 400-yard drives to make history in Colorado, these guys demonstrated the type of grit and perseverance we champion here at Chase54. We’re proud to have them on our team, and we’re excited about what the future holds for all our brand ambassadors.”
La’Cassie carded four consecutive rounds in the 60s en route to his victory, birdieing the final two holes in regulation to force a playoff. With the win, he moved to sixth on the Web.com Tour money list and, more importantly, secured his PGA TOUR card for the 2013-2014 season.
La’Cassie had a stellar collegiate career at the University of Minnesota, finishing as the first four-time All-American in school history and capturing the Big Ten Conference’s Les Bolstad Award for lowest season stroke average. In 2006, he won the Western Amateur Championship and, in 2009, won the Sunset Hills NGA Classic on the NGA Hooters Tour.
With four tournaments remaining as part of the Web.com Tour Finals, La’Cassie is focused on positioning himself for the highest ranking possible for next season.
Further to the west, Scruggs was making history in Colorado. The 17-year-old became the first teenage to win the Mile High Shootout, powering past an event field full of seasoned veterans. The native of Granite Falls, N.C., pounded out a drive of 423 yards in the semifinals and then one that measured 413 in the finals to take home the title.
La’Cassie and Scruggs weren’t the only Chase54 ambassadors to enjoy the weekend. Jason Kokrak carded a Top 10 finish at The Barclays, setting him up for a strong run through the PGA TOUR’s FedEx Cup Playoffs.
