After-school golf programs to enrich the lives of students through area schools and community based organizations
Lawrenceville, NJ – One of the nation’s most successful and fast-growing youth sports companies, which specializes in developing school-based golf enrichment programs for young people, has expanded in the state of New Jersey.
The husband and wife team of Stuart and Winnie Woody have acquired the TGA Premier Junior Golf franchise in Mercer County. This will be the fourth such franchise in New Jersey, which will offer after-school golf enrichment curriculums to local students and families.
“Having a husband-wife team like Stuart and Winnie, who have strong business backgrounds, local community ties and a passion for youth and sports, is great for building successful TGA programs,” said Steve Tanner, TGA chief operating officer. “We are seeing some exciting growth with our golf franchises recently, mainly due to our sustainable business model that creates business ownership opportunities in the golf industry impacting youth and the future growth of the sport.”
The Woodys bring a wonderful combination of business backgrounds and youth sports experience to TGA. Stuart, a graduate of the University of Virginia, is a former elementary and middle school teacher and financial services representative, as well as a youth sports coach for ten years. Winnie, a Columbia University graduate who also worked in the financial services industry, has spent the last decade as a corporate recruiter, speaker and trainer. Together they look forward to making a difference in children’s lives through TGA’s unique curriculum.
“We’re super fortunate,” says Winnie. “With TGA, we are able to do every day what most people only have the privilege of doing on the weekends and on vacation. We’re ambassadors for the best life-long sports — and we get to proactively bring the message to the youngest and most energetic future players in our community. Our mission is to use the TGA teaching philosophy (fun with focus and sportsmanship) to make a difference in children’s days, while encouraging them to ‘keep swinging’ in every area of their lives for the long term.”
TGA Premier Junior Golf of Mercer County is expected to involve thousands of youth annually by introducing golf to children at elementary and middle schools, child care centers and community based organizations through a multi-level instruction program. TGA will then transition the students to local partner golf courses through parent-child clinics, tournaments, and summer camps.
“TGA is the culmination of everything good for students growing up in the new millennium,” said Stuart. “We offer the chance to learn from students, to equip and teach young players, to mentor people in the sports and education field, to develop leadership within our organization and to introduce students to a life-long sport – golf.”
TGA’s sports franchises, which run the leading school- and community-based youth golf and tennis programs in the U.S., are geared toward motivated self-starters who are passionate about the sport, their community and enjoy working with children. Each franchise offers not only business ownership and job opportunities in the industry but also unique ways to grow the sports.
