Top amateur George Zahringer turned drills from NYC’s only private golf-fitness

center into winning formula at Royal Aberdeen

New York, NY (August 27, 2013) – As one of the country’s leading amateur golfers, George Zahringer is on good terms with his swing and his body. He knows them well and together they’ve won numerous big tournaments, including the U.S. Mid-Amateur, Metropolitan Open, and five Met Amateurs, and he has competed in the Masters, Walker Cup, and eight U.S. Senior Open Championships.

In early August, Zahringer won the 2013 British Senior Amateur, played at Royal Aberdeen in northern Scotland, for the first time. But two weeks before heading across the Atlantic to compete, he felt something was wrong with his swing. That’s when he turned to Golf & Body NYC-the private club in Manhattan that offers golfers the ultimate setting for enhancing performance-for help.

“The sequencing of my lower body on the downswing was a little off,” explains Zahringer. “So what did I do? I called Ben Shear, the director of fitness at Golf & Body NYC and asked for assistance. Given Ben’s knowledge of the swing and physiology, plus his experience working with PGA Tour players, I asked him to recommend a fix.

“Ben spoke to Zenon Dolnyckyj, my trainer at Golf & Body NYC, and together they came up with a series of drills to improve my sequencing. I saw Zenon on a Tuesday morning and we incorporated the new drills into my routine… I noticed an immediate improvement. Two weeks later, I won the British Senior Amateur. The new drills definitely helped, no doubt about it.”

Golf & Body NYC enables its members to train like the game’s top players. In fact, Shear works with a number of PGA Tour golfers-including Luke Donald, Webb Simpson, Jason Day, and Bo Van Pelt. His total-body programs are proven to improve health and golf performance for the best players in the world, top amateurs like George Zahringer, and weekend golfers at all levels.

Every membership includes a full physical evaluation by Ben Shear’s staff and a golf swing evaluation by the professional staff. For more information, please contact Jeannine Harrington, General Manager at 212/244-2626 or access the web site at www.golfbodynyc.com.
