Pettersen gets hot with her Nike Method putter to claim her 12th LPGA title
BEAVERTON, Ore. (September 2, 2013) – Nike athlete Suzann Pettersen produced a come-from-behind victory at the LPGA’s Safeway Classic in true athletic fashion.
Entering the final round three strokes back, Pettersen birdied eight out of an 11-hole stretch with her Nike Method Core 3i putter to secure her 12th LPGA title and second LPGA Tour win this year.
“I tried to give myself chances. Once I got going I felt like I made a lot of clutch putts,” said Pettersen. “I guess that’s what made me win today. The putter was a good friend of mine.”
Relying on her 14-club Nike arsenal, including irons from Nike’s VR line, Pettersen hit 57/72 greens in regulation (79%) and is currently ranked first in greens in regulation this year (76.3%).
Pettersen also used Nike’s innovative cavity back driver, the VR_S Covert coupled with Nike’s 20XI X ball featuring more RZN technology. On the body, Pettersen wore apparel from Nike’s Tour Performance Women’s Collection and the new Nike FI Impact footwear.
