PORTLAND, Ore. – Thailand’s Pornanong Phatlum earned her 4th Top 10 of the year at the LPGA Tour’s Safeway Classic Sunday. Phatlum held the lead for both the first and second rounds after shooting a 64-66 on Thursday and Friday. Phatlum birdied three of her last four holes Friday to own a one-stroke lead after the second round after making 10 birdies in the first round.
The 23-year-old Phatlum, winless in five seasons on the LPGA Tour, shot a tournament-record 14-under 130 total at the Columbia Edgewater course the first two days of the event.
“I’m playing kind of good today, but my putter wasn’t that hot,” Phatlum said after leading 36 holes on the LPGA Tour for the first time. “I didn’t make enough birdies on the front nine. But then I started getting on a roll and I made more birdies on the back.”
She ranks 25th on the 2013 LPGA Tour money list. She also ranks 10th on the LPGA Tour in Driving Accuracy with 79% accuracy. Phatlum plays a Pink Volvik Vista 4-piece golf ball.
